6. Marshall
7. Taumata

I dunno, maybe. We've got nothing. Does Taumata have a kicking game? As bad as he is at the kicking/organising side of things, it's probably good for us that Benji keeps taking on those responsibilities for the Tigers.

Marshall
Taumata

Hohaia on the bench to cover most of the backline

It's a toss up between Taumata, Leuluai, Roberts and Eddie Paea though, but at least Taumata will have some confidence behind him the way he is playing.

None of our halves are international standard.

We really need Marshall to hit his straps and play halfback. Not sure on a 5/8

What about Marshall at 7 and Sa at 6. Sa looked really good when he played five eighth for the chooks a couple of games ago.

I hope Thomas Leuluai never plays for the kiwi's again, he has constantly proved he can't handle the pressure of international football.

But yet he always gets picked..

yeah, because he promises so much at superleague level. Even I had picked him in my Kiwi's team for the centenary match after watching him do some very impressive things for Wigan alongside Barrett earlier in the year. But it's obvious he sh*ts himself on the big stage and can't cope with the pressure or speed of international football. He also gets picked because we have no other halves.

To me Thomas has never stepped up. Even in his debut test when Jones was out and we beat the Aussies convincingly he did SFA, he was the calm eye in the storm as it all went on around him and really didn't direct anything.

At this stage Marshall/Roberts for me, though there's a few #7 options which may come out more over the next year or two.

...Perhaps some of the Kiwi hooker possibilities might like the option and challenge of the HB role

I dont care what Sheens has in mind for Benji but he isn't a halfback

6. Marshall
7. Taumata (this kid maybe a lil green but sh*t he can toe it!)

or

6. Marshall
7. Paea (Stuff the bunnies for axing him, he needs a better opportunity)

Sonny Bill Williams I repeat SONNY BILL WILLIAMS should only be a second rower! esp in Internationals, I dont mind him playing 5/8 for the bulldogs however

As far as I can see, Setaimata Sa is a centre/lock in the SBW mould. Taumata, Roberts and Marshall are very similar players, all great running players with average playmaking, only one should be in the team. Luke and Chase should be the rotating hookers with Faiumu not in the reckoning any more. What NZ lacks most is a halfback. Thomas Leuluai, Jeremy Smith are both halfbacks, but both are pisspoor players...that really only leaves Eddie Paea.

I just hope that Marshall is fit and able to play at the world cup. He's the only option we have that I could see winning a game for us, though admittedly I haven't seen Taumata play. It's a sad indictment on Kiwi halves when I think someone like Lance Hohaia is on a similar level to most of our other options there. I actually rate Lance, but he hasn't played regular NRL football in the halves for several years now.
