I've always been a fan of some of the stuff that comes from across the ditch, but lately, there's been some top stuff... Pacifier, Betchadupa, Evermore, Scribe, and the Finn Brothers.

For a country of their size, they definitely can churn them out.

I love it!

NZ music is on fire atm. We've actually reached the point where we don't have to pretend that all successful NZ music is good, cos there's a fair bit to choose from. I mean, Steriogram got a big US record deal and nominated for 3 MTV awards, but we don't have to pretend to give a sh*t, cos they kinda suck. Zed have all these flashy American music videos with Hollywood stars, but *meh*. And NZ hip-hop is so rad right now, better stuff than Scribe fo sho IMO.

My all time fav nz bands:

Balance
D.S.M.
Evil Priest
Sommerset

ZED are extremely crap, King Kapisi is nz's most original rapper although theres probarly a million other rappers at the otara markets that sound just like him.

Word to that. It's amazing how far the NZ music scene has come:
twenty years ago you thought "its from NZ, it must be crap"
ten years ago we said "It's not bad for a local act"
five years ago we raved about everything local that came out and got some airplay
Now the scene seems to have fully come of age to the point where we can really pick and choose from our talent. The hip-hop scene especially has gone ballistic but the rock and electronica scenes is pretty damn healthy for a country the size of NZ too.

I punched the singer from Blindspott in AntiChristchurch, do I get scene points?
Big ups to the 8 Foot Sativa boys in Wellington on Saturday, I had a good time and passed out on the Indigo Bar steps

the new Finn Brothers album is great.

Goodshirt is another good kiwi band - they have some amazing filmclips...check out the clips to "Blowing Dirt" and "Sophie" (both good songs as well).
