the 4 nation isn't going to replaced by a 9s comp....all they said is they where going to look at replicating the current 4 nations model,ie 2014,gap,2016, as well as fitting in tours & the confed cup...the way ive planned it out is the only way it can be achieved in the 3 years between the world cups...

I'd transfer 4N to RLIF and expand it to 5N, with the Big 3 plus one from each hemisphere. Play it in the middle of the WC cycle.

Years 1 and 3 can just be a mixture of tours. Aus goes to Eng, for example, with Euro Cup matches as openers, plus warm-ups. Down here, NZ play in the Pacific Cup.

I don't see why the Four Nations needs to go at all though, it's typical RL that we're finally starting to get somewhere in terms of a regular and logical international schedule and then they want to start messing with things. I'm all for doing more to get other nations involved, for example both Scotland and France should have been invited to make a 5 Nations in 2016 while everyone else is playing World Cup qualifiers, but there's no need to make wholesale changes to the format. If the Aussies don't want to play then who cares, they aren't that important, invite Samoa or someone instead.

And bending over backwards to accommodate 'tours' is f**king stupid, nobody would think that they were a good idea if it wasn't something that was done in the past, in a now bygone and irrelevant era. There is literally no logical argument for their existence other than 'it's traditional' and who cares about tradition, tradition has got us nowhere for the last 100 years.

5nations won't work,it'll take too long to complete....

I would expand to 6 nations. 5 rounds and a final

Then mid year you have a Euro and Pacific 4 N qualifying period while 3 SOO are being played. Top 2 automatic selections. While 3 placed teams playoff for final spot

Then teams that don't qualify play in a Tier 2 6 nations to decide who plays in the following year qualifications

ive called for the 4nation to be transfered to the RLIF for a while...but that means the RFL,ARL & NZRL giving up a cash cow...i think this schedule appeases everyone

year 1 - pre season RLIF world 9's & end of season tours

year 2 - RLIF confederations cup

year 3 - pre season RLIF world 9's & end of season tours

it gives the big 3 their cash cow back in the form of tours and it gives the RLIF 2 cash generating events, as well as finding space for a world 9's which could be the cornerstone international development imo
