It just an observation. National coaches often favour those players that they coach on a weekly basis. That's not the case with the Brisbane based players & Kearney.

Im just wondering if there's something else at play here i.e. they think he's a tool.

This is my concern. There are other posters in the Warriors forum who as I'm sure you're well aware, are saying that Kearney is trying to clean up the culture of the team. While this is all good and well, I'm pretty sure that there can't be THAT many guys who are unworthy of the National jersey. At which point does it become an issue with the coach rather than the players?

Alex Glenn is the biggest omission, would be in my starting side.

Benji would have been good off the bench or if one of the halves get injured..he'd defly be a better option than Lueluai.

My top 17:

1.Gerard Beale, 2.Jason Nightingale, 3.Shaun Kenny-Dowall, 4.Dean Whare, 5.Manu Vatuvei, 6.Kieran Foran, 7.Shaun Johnson, 8.Jesse Bromwich, 9.Isaac Luke, 10.Sam Moa, 11.Kevin Proctor, 12.Simon Mannering, 13.Jason Taumalolo, 14.Lewis Brown, 15.Greg Eastwood, 16.Martin Taupau, 17.Tohu Harris

The only possible weakness I see is at fullback. Sure RTS is going to be wearing the number 1 jumper for years to come but hes unavailable this year. I was suprised that Hoffman wasnt selected and Locke wasnt even considered. These are the 2 men who were both outstanding when battling for the fullback role during last years World Cup. Why was Sam Perrett not considered though? He realy made the Bulldogs number 1 jersey his own this year

I also think Matagi should play for Samoa. Sure we have 4 top class props in McKendry, Matulino, Kasiano and Waerea-Hargreaves all out but we still dont need Matagi. Let him play for Samoa and bring in his Warriors team-mate Sam Rapira. I hate it when the Aussie and NZ poach players from the lesser nations when they are fringe players at best and only end up playing against the country they shouldve been representing. Doesnt help grow the game

Yeah I'm surprised hoffman and locke weren't picked. Beale isn't exactly electric. Maybe Whare at fullback and beale at centre?

Josh Hoffman may cut Kiwi ties, says manager

LAINE CLARK
Josh Hoffman's manager has given his strongest hint yet that his charge will consider cutting his Kiwi ties after a New Zealand Four Nations snub.

But if he is eyeing Australia, Queensland-born Hoffman won't be eligible to play State of Origin under rules ushered in at the end of 2012.

Hoffman's agent Paul Hogan said his client had yet to make up his mind about switching allegiances after being a notable omission from New Zealand coach Stephen Kearney's Four Nations squad.

''It was slightly disappointing more than anything. He's not particularly worried about that,'' Hogan said.

''Whatever decisions he makes, that is for the future.

''But bear this in mind - Josh was born in Mackay, played Queensland under 19s in league and union, played Queensland Residents and lived in Queensland his whole life.''

However, rules on the NRL website state Hoffman would not be eligible for Origin.

New rules approved by the Australian Rugby League Commission in December 2012 state ''to qualify for State of Origin you must be eligible and elect to play for Australia and have not represented another tier one nation at senior level [England/New Zealand]''.

Hoffman has played for New Zealand since the edict passed in late 2012, notching a total of five Tests in the black and white.

Hogan said Hoffman - who has a Kiwi dad - had taken Kearney's snub in his stride.

''He wasn't emotional. He's a pretty even-tempered guy - he's resilient,'' he said.

Hogan said Hoffman's first priority was considering his NRL future after receiving permission from the Broncos to talk to rival clubs.

Up to five clubs are reportedly keen on the ex-Kiwi fullback but Canterbury may no longer be an option if Dragons' flyer Brett Morris joins his brother Josh at the Bulldogs.

Gold Coast Titans are believed to be the latest to show interest with a centre vacancy to fill but Hogan said Hoffman's first preference would be to play fullback.

''Fullback is his preferred position at the moment so initially we will look at clubs who can play him there but you never rule anything out,'' he said.

"'We will weigh all our options up and hopefully come to a decision by Christmas.''

It's starting to look more and more like something is going on between Kearney and the players.

Good to see Taumalolo get a shot but that squad is made up of nothing but average versatile players and no genuine X Factor playmakers that can turn a game with pure skill.

Have a look at the final 5 minutes of the Roosters-Panthers semi final. His name is Dallin Watene-Zelezniak. If that is not turning a game with pure skill, I'm a skinny Chinaman.

No Hoffman or RTS? Who's the fullback?

Possibly the abovementioned DWZ, or more likely Nightingale with DWZ to the wing.

He can't even hold down a spot at the Fullbacks! What chance does he have? I posted a side elsewhere of an Australian 17 of fullbacks. He would barely even make that!
