One thing I noticed, having just watched the game, is that for the past couple of weeks (or more) our halves have disappeared for more or less the entire second half. I almost forgot Walsh was there until he kicked off in around the 75th minute. Same tends to happen with Mullen. And this isn't just the Knights actually, a lot of sides tend to go this way.
Seems to be a result of our playing mostly one out football, our forwards and backline are usually the only people to see the ball. While the halves might be calling the shots behind the play and showing people where to go, it almost means players like Riley Brown are leading the side around. We looked dangerous when the halves did get involved and spread to the flanks, but for mine the second half was rather different in structure to the first. And when the forwards are lumbering around the park close to death, a bit more creativity is probably needed.
Not to say that we don't play effectively like this. It was a great effort. I just want to see our halves play in the 70th minute like they do in the 10th.
Also a side note/generalisation - I reckon we would have come away with it if we weren't playing the Tigers. There was a lot of effort in driving hitups and offloads, but the Tigers were impressive in shutting down plays that would have really got us going; they strangled a lot of our opportunities with very effective defense. I'm excited for next week.
