Media reports have Rick Stone at the Knights saying that they are close to signing him. Seriously, how the fugg could the club let this kid go. He is the best young forward to be at the club in years.

Knights ride to the rescue of Kaufusi

ADRIAN PROSZENKO

June 20, 2010
FORMER Kangaroos prop Antonio Kaufusi is close to negotiating an immediate release to join Newcastle.
Kaufusi has been languishing in the Queensland Cup for Mackay after falling out of favour at the Cowboys.
It has been a massive fall for the former Queensland, Australia and Tonga forward, who was welcomed with much fanfare in Townsville after being poached from the Melbourne Storm last year.

Kaufusi is not the only Cowboys star on the Knights' radar, with the cashed-up club also in the mix for the signature of off-contract NSW back-rower Luke O'Donnell. Newcastle are also close to signing his younger brother, Kyle, who has been playing for Cronulla's under-20 team this season.
Newcastle coach Rick Stone confirmed the club had tabled Kaufusi an offer for the rest of this year and for 2011.
''We have shown some interest,'' Stone said yesterday. ''Whether that will happen before the end of the month will come down to if we come up with some sort of financial agreement with the Cowboys.
''It's going to have to be quick if something is to happen.''
The Knights have plenty of money to spend - and holes to fill - after the loss of Chris Houston and Danny Wicks after their drug charges. The club has been linked to several big-name players including Johnathan Thurston, Feleti Mateo, Mark Gasnier, Sonny Bill Williams, Brett Finch and Willie Mason. However, they are yet to secure the marquee signing they crave and also missed out on another target when Canberra's Trevor Thurling re-signed during the week.
Stone said he was hopeful of making an O'Donnell double play but admitted the club was closer to signing Kyle than Luke at this stage.

I'd rather re-sign Milo, and hang onto our youngsters like Bakuya and Kyle O'Donnell than sign LOD.

Far greater value with those 3 IMO.

f**k we don't have many exciting juniors coming through.

But he is definately a First Grade prospect.

You'd think we'd at least lock up the couple of decent prospects we actually do have.

All we need now is someone saying that Adam Goode is leaving an we'd have the quinella !

If his last name was not O'Donnell I doubt half this forum would know who he is.

I still don't...only just worked out who or what the fug LOD mean't .

what about the dude who busted his everything in the trial against Manly.
He was on fire before that happened...he'd be getting close to at least running????

Not true K.

Most people on this forum know who he is because he has been a standout this season.

O'Donnell, Goode have been the most outstanding forwards in the NYC team this year.

It's about time we pay overs to secure some of our own outstanding juniors rather than pay overs for the likes of Albert Kelly.

How is Kyle Odonnel any different from Albert kelly? Stupid comment.
And which cap do yopu propose we put odonnel into? Newcastle will be putting him into their top 25 cap. How do you propose the sharks manage that?

Kyle O'Donnell is very raw. He needs a couple of years of football education before he is near ready firsts. Not much point throwing silly money at him if he not better than what we have. Parra didn't compete with our offer for Kelly because they felt they had better options within the club. We lack halves so we threw a top 25 contract at him. Newcastle are missing forwards and so they will be offering overs.

Adam Goode has potential as a wide running backrower. He hits holes with decent leg speed and some evasion. He is something that we don't have in first grade and his development should be prioritised. Needs a big offseason to gain strength.

How you describe Adam Goode is exactly what I'd say about O'Donnell and I'd put him ahead of Goode. Thats why he is must signing in my book. As for how the sharks manage that Reefy. Simple, offer him a top 25 contract for next year. He was in the apprentice group this year and I'd sign him ahead of Reece Williams.

Mark my words. Will be a big loss for the future if he goes.

saw him wondering around during NYC, at least he wasnt limping..

didnt he have the same injury as covell? if so, pity they only thought of the LARS treatment for cov

Not enough is known about that treatment so no need for a 18 year old
to risk it.. That's while moltzen did not risk it. Covell has nothing to lose

My son was in hospital over night and he shared his room with a Ipswich Brothers player that just had the regular surgery done, he had Dr Morgan apparently one of the countries best, and they discussed the LARS surgery, Doc said Lars was a short term fix and not good in the long tem, so as this guy was young he had the more conventional method done, which apparently is better longer term
