lack of possession

We were owr own worst enemy in the second half, for a team down on possession i think we tried too hard to keep the pace of the game up - which incidently played directly into what the panthers needed.

We would have a couple of good sets in defence keeping them within their 40. Roberts would put one of his massive boots in, and for a few consecutive sets when we had the ball we only had backs taking the hitups. one set was mckinnon, peterson, graham, mckinnon, peterson. all with extremely quick play the balls, but they only made about 8 mtrs each in DHRs.

this is partly why witt never seemed to touch the ball in the second 40mins (some have mentioned an injury? i must have missed that).

we would have been better off slowing things down a bit, disrupting the panthers rhythm, and getting our attacking line set and spreading it wide. It worked perfectly in the first half - unlucky to not get many pts on the board - but thats another topic.[/b]

No doubt we are coached to do such things.

We've been doing this since 97.
Our sixth tackle options are just as ordinary. Absolutely no imagination.

If you think things will change, you are dreaming. While ever we have Smith as coach.

Ummmm......

Might I remind you that in 2001 we posted the best attacking record ever under the same coach we have now.... oh - and not Parra's best ever attacking record, but in the entire history of rugby league in this country, the most points/ tries in top grade.

Of course, you probably thought that year was ordinary - showing no imagination because things have always been identical under the "pathetic coach" we currently have.....

And don't say that was a once-off because we did make the week before the grand final in the years previous to that (even having Ben Busto as our halfback one year)....

Actually, reminding myself of that, I'd have to say that I'd be happy to have things never change - it's great having a coach who's only missed the finals once in the last 7 years, and who has taken us deep into the final series a number of times! I'm sure any number of other clubs would love to have had that sort of success to cheer over the last few years....
