Lamar Gordon set for Miami

It looks like in the next few hours that Lamar Gordon will be traded to Miami in exchange for a third round pick. Its going to be very interesting to see how this goes down in fantasy circles, as he could be a massive boom, but then again Ricky Williams struggled behind that o-line so its hard to see Lamar doing anything different

I find it interesting how several people have said that, is injury history is no where near as bad as people make it out to be

He wont do squat. Like you said, Ricky struggled behind that line & Lamar definitly aint no Ricky! But you never know, with such a weak running game they may just try & expose a lack of attention from Ds & he'll be a breakout. But I doubt it...

I think that Lamamr wont be able to do much for Miamis offence ans this year, there looking to be in alot of trouble this season, losing Williams was a huge blow because the running game was the only thing going for the Dolphins.

It's hard to say. The Offensive line has been almostly completly rebuilt in the offseason. Whether the new O-line is better than the old will soon be discovered.
Either way Gordon is an upgrade over the other RB's on the roster.

Lamar Gordon or Travis Minor ? What to do for a Miami fan in for a world of hurt come this weekend...both NFL & possibly NCAA Canes as well. But back to the subject.

Lamar Gordon is an unproven RB who backed up the great Marshall Faulk whilst in St. Louis. Gordon, whilst quick on his feet, has not yet shown anyone durability and behind an average O-line that saw Ricky Williams get beat up last season, durability is going to be a must for 2004/05.

Let's look at the careers of both guys:

Lamar Gordon Career (Rushing)

23G 9GS 136att 526yds 3.9ypc 29Long 2TD (2 seasons in St. Louis)

Hardly convincing by no means and this was with an O-line that was quite good.

Travis Minor Career (Rushing)

48G 0GS 144att 654yds 4.5ypc 56Long 5TD (3 seasons in Miami)

On paper, alot prettier to look at and I for one hope Wannstedt gives Minor a chance to start/

Ricky Williams leaving has put us in a bind, I was furious when I heard the news for the simple fact we could of made a play for veterans like Corey Dillon or Eddie George in the off season. You get that.

Gordon an upgrade ? Being unproven (as is Minor I might add), I am not sure we can make that comment but I will say this...one of these guys may just have a career year and breakout. Minor in particular was impressive in college ball, this may be the chance he is looking for.

We still have a top 5 WR in Chris Chambers, emergin TE in Randy McMichael and our defence is still very good despite some key players getting on the wrong side of 30. As long as the the remaining key players stay healthy (Chambers, McMichael, Fiedler or AJ Feeley, Seau, Thomas, Taylor, Knight, Madison and Surtain) we will be competitive. Remember, Madden 2005's catch cry is 'Defence wins Championships'...we assemble a pretty impressive unti ;)

Bring on the season starting with rivals Indy and New England on ESPN tomorrow morning !

actually that was with an oline that was quite bad. even faulk had problems making yards with that oline at times the last couple of years.

gordon is actually quite good but he is not durable enough to be a starting rb. he had a couple of chances to show the rams he was the successor to faulk but he always got some kind of injury which stopped him from playing.

he is a career back up.

I disagree, I think he has been one of those guys that has been stuck behind a superstar and hence people just assumed he was a backup because he didnt perform at a level comparable to Faulk. I think you will see him come into his own not that he knows he has the top spot if he plays well enough, unlike at St Louis where he was guaranteed to be back on the bench regardless of how well he went

Lamar Gordon: Likely Out For Season

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Monday, September 27, 2004
Update: Gordon is likely out for the season after suffering a dislocated left shoulder in Sunday's game, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Recommendation: Gordon will reportedly receive a second medical opinion before undergoing surgery, but this doesn't look good at all. If Travis Minor and Sammy Morris remain out, as they were in Week 3, Leonard Henry would get the start against the Jets on Sunday.

did anyone ever doubt it?

this guy can't carry the load. he is a career back up.
