What a pr!ck tease this guy has turned out to be...

Back in May I thought he was gunna be our next superstar, but its now apparent that he cannot tackle, and has massive problems reading the play in defense and looks total lost at times...

Not up to first grade standard at the moment and serious doubts about him longer term.

He is 18 his defence will improve.
Trust me he is a far better defender than Brasher was at that age and that was when Brasher was playing in a better side
He has raw pace, runs hard and can hit a hole and can find the line. Yes makes bad decisions in defence. Which 18yo doesn't. Like I said, Brasher was far worse at the same age and he turned out to be pretty handy
He is a future rep player

I dont recall Brasher f**king up as often as Lawrence has.. Besides, Brasher had the Pommy Courier letting in all the tries on the other side of the field when he was 18...

lawrence was responsible in one way or another for all first half points conceded today..

I hope you are right though.. its hardly like anyone else is coming through but I have my doubts...

Yeah.. OK.. he was farked as well... They pretty much all were...

But my point is that Lawrence has done nothing since May..

Are you honestly not diasppointed with how he has gone since he first came on the scene??

Hmm. I am disappointed with how he has been used rather than how he has played. He is very quick and runs very hard. I can count how many times he handled the ball today on one hand. He is not being utilised.

His defence has been ordinary at best sometimes. Funny because he was such a dominant defender at school. Is it nerves? Is it going to take time to get used to bigger and better runners? I am not sure. But I have no doubts in his ability.

On top of all this...the papers were making out as if it was the second coming of christ...it is obvious why Tim Sheens is so 'anti players talking to the media'. Because when they have a bad game, it looks even worse after all the wraps they have been getting.

He is still a player for the starting 13 IMO. I would like him at full-back...but I cant see that happening.

On a side note...I draw comparisons between Lawrence in Tuiaki (who also had a quiet game, with some poor defensive misses). Tuiaki does not see enough ball in space...the one time he got ball in space, he scored a try!

It's not rocket science.

He has been given a go at every posiition in the backline so maybe he hasn't had enough time to find his feet...

I think a the moment he is a winger only in defense.. he is caught out too often in the centres...

Collis has been quiet as well of late.. I know he is playing with an injury so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt...

They need to find a defensive centre from somewhere for 2008... I'm not sure from where though...

Both Centres today missed 5 tackles.. which is turnstile.. particulary when missing a tackle out wide means a certain break down field.. but your boys have pace thats for sure.

We dont have the size the power our the know how to contain and stop the better sides getting offloads. It all starts with the forwards,the guys out wide missed plenty of tackles,but its the guys in the middle who kill the ball before it gets wide

Lightning Lawrence will get better at defence. He is still only young. He will learn from experience. He will be a superstar.

yep time too get D.Galea in there as well as Halatau Collis and Lawrence have been playing like crap

Lawrences defence may well improve with time.

Problem is at the moment he is absolutely crap in defence. Some of us were trying to bring this up months ago but were told he is worth more in attack than he costs in defence. That turned out to be bullsh*t didn't it?

Look I don't blame the kid. It is a long list of the problems in this side. The first of which is the fact everyone has to move to accomodate Benji in defence. Poor old Fitzhenry does admirably but sometimes misreads and to an extent I feel Lawrence goes for the 10% play in the big hit because he does not trust Benji on the outside of him.

Something has to change in the way our team is structured

Lawrence will be a star but how he is keeping Phatz out of the centre spot is beyond me. Lawrence should be on the wing for now. He has an awesome footballers physique at this early stage and it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up a lock. Yes he made a series of blunders yesterday but thats to be expected at 18. His defence will tighten up!

Lawrence cannot defend for sh.it.....he let go yesterday at a crucial time and i try was scored straight after and lets not forget the game against brisbane where carroll ran riot over him....

Chris lawrence should be coming in with 20 minutes to go like he was earlier in the season, that way he is up against a tired defence and he can then run rings around them...and in defence the opposition is tired and not running at him at full strength and his lack of defensive ability isnt so important
