Hull FC and Hull KR are two of the greatest rivals in the history of the game, a rivalry which stretches back to the 19th century. What is unusual about thehistoryof the Airlie Birds and the Robins?
Hull were formed in 1865 as a Rugby Club, I think Hull KR were formed in 1882 also as a Rugby Club......it doesn't have anything to do with other sports.
A bit more trivia.

The Ellis brothers Tom, Keith and Allan each at one stage captained Newtown first grade sides, in what is believed to be a unique achievement. To add to the record, Allan's son, Greg, also skippered Newtown.

The unusual thing about Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers is about geography or to be more precise, territory. In modern times and for at least the last 79 years Hull KR have represented the eastern half of the city which is divided in two by the river Hull (The full name of the city is 'Kingston upon Hull')Whilst Hull FC are from the western half of the city. However, KR were formed in the westernarea of the city in the 1880's, whilst Hull FC were originally from east of the river; eventually they swapped territory.
Tony, the rivalry between those two clubs matches any in the game, although recent years haven't seen too many Humberside derbies. You here the typical stories of fans hatred of their nearest rivals, wether it's true or not is another thing, but I once heard of a Hull fan who wouldn't eat bacon because it is red and white. I guess some KR fans don't like Humbug.
