Our only players that make the starting 13 of any other team in the comp are Ponga, Pearce and maybe Fitz for a few.

    Says a lot.

I think I'd add Guerra as a starter for many other squads too...you then get down to Griffin and it continues to dip from there

Think Esee and SKD would find a spot elsewhere

I think the quality of player is one thing but how come none of our guys can pass properly? Like hit the runner on the chest at the right time? Also, when we run set plays, how come we look so disjointed compared to many other teams? I'm not expecting us to run set plays like the Storm but at least we can look like we know what we're doing...

    True on Herman.

SKD and Guerra make a few... but as role players, where here they are expected to be huge contributors.

Because we're not a structured attacking side without Pearce. You can't say that we didn't look a million times better in attack before he got injured; without him, we don't have a single player capable of structuring the attack.

It takes us 30 seconds to kick for touch when we get a penalty. Watched Pearce (barking orders), Lamb (asking “what we doing?”) every time it occurs. Other end, opposition score in the time our touchie raises the flag. All this after they make the decision not to take the shot from 70 out. Sadly, we are working one play at a time, and that is beyond a few of our player’s limits. Guarantee you will see it tomorrow, not sure who kicks though. All evidence we have no structure, and little game plan. Wish we had more to offer.

You know what? We looked bloody decent out there today. We were trying this and that, some great kicks by Cogger and Ponga, some good set plays where we had the Parra edge defenders guessing. If we played like that all season, we would have won two or three more games.

Yep, gladly take that effort every week. Just watching the replay now. 4 minutes in, and offered more than the last 4 weeks combined. Better teams than a busted Eels to come, but will compete against anyone with tonight’s game, attack and defense. Hope we can back it up week after week.

I heard a while back that Brown is our attacking coach. Would it be worthwhile bringing in a specialist attacking coach?

I don't have the statistics on me at the moment, but aren't we pretty decent in attack? I thought our problem was our terrible defense?

I'm not really going to comment on our attack and whether or not we need an overhaul for a bit. It was clear the side had some communication issues earlier this year when Pearce was leading us and for the last 3 months we've had a dud suck the life out of our attack. We signed players to play particular roles, Watson to be a running 6, Ponga to be a ball playing fullback but neither could really excel in those areas and improve their preseason combinations, their plays etc with Cogger running the ship.

Our attack has been a bit of a mystery. We've shown a LOT of positive signs, a lot of things that could really lead to some tremendous moments in the years to come. Our defence is certainly an issue, mostly up the middle of the field.

Defence all round tbh. Fix that and drive up the middle and attack will be fine.

Anyone see that try I think Cody Walker (or was it their halfback) scored where Damien Cook ran out of dummy half, there was like 3 or 4 support players running two or three lines supporting each other on the half break. I saw a couple of times Levi bounced out of dummy half but there was noone there to support. We need better support play. Ponga is more a play maker, Pearce is pretty good as a support runner but Watson and others need to sniff around there for offloads.
