Let’s go back to go forward

I was having a think about the current state of the game and what it was like in the past and as many fondly remember.

Things I’d really like to see back in the game.

1. All forwards must be in the scrum and must stay bound UNTIL the ball is out (review union scrums and the punishment for early break).

2. The referee must only refer to players as a number and Captain.

3. If players are taking too long to get off a tackle or aren’t getting back the 10 metres..... don’t warn them about getting off the tackler quicker or get back ON SIDE!!!! PENALISE THEM!!!

4. Get rid of the interchange. Go back to the 2 reserves who played reserves and only replacing a player who was genuinely injured and couldn’t play on.

I’m sure there are other elements to discuss.....

I’m looking forward to your thoughts.

Unfortunately the pigs in the trough wont let this happen but I will add more for fun.

1. Teach refs, linesman what is a knock on and what is a knock back
2. Get rid of ref micrphones
3. Get rid of stop clocks.
4. Get rid of blue shirts on field for 5 tackles in attack (aka langer coaching)
5. Bring back the punch and legal shoulder charge as long as does not hit the head of course
6. Call held quicker (to stop wrestling) and when do stop them carrying on with the tackle
7. Get up and play the ball properly and on the mark
8. Markers standing at marker not running 5 metres back and claiming to be marker and no contact at the play the ball
9.Stop players standing offside when defending try line
10. Linesman / refs looking for offside again when kicks go up or put through. Lately everyone is automatically onside...even the bunker gloss over it at times and just say everyone's onside.
11. Daytime GF / 3 grades each game day as per Muzby's revised time slots even for night games
12. Play home and away twice a year..play everyone once in the 1st half of the year and then everyone 2nd half etc...might mean to get rid of trials

Feed the ball in the middle between both sides front row.

• Allow pushing in the scrum.
• Allow both hookers to strike for the ball.
• Have less scrums by only forming a scrums when the ball is kicked into touch, all other mistakes such as a knockon, forward pass etc. should be a turnover of possession, play the ball.
• Players of the team in possession must stand back 5m at the play the ball, except of course fhe player playing the ball and the dummy half.

Bloody hell , pay to get the best goal kicker in the comp because with these suggestions there will be plenty of penalty goal opportunities.

If a player has his foot out or over the dead ball line and catches the ball on the full then that player is deemed to have taken the ball out not the kicker.

If you take the ball from the field of play and force it in your own in-goal a 10 m scrum with an attacking side feed.

If you give 3 penalties in a row of any type in your 20 m zone a player automatically in the bin for 5.

Refs to stop long conversations with captains looking for a breather. Wave them away and play on after explaining the penalty.

Get rid of dominant tackle fiasco and call held as soon as forward progress is stopped.

Severe penalties for trips.

Get rid of slow mo adjudication for potential so called late hits or for delayed penalties around the ruck
Video only used for missed foul play and in goal try grounding adjucation (4 sets of eys can determine all the other stuff)

3. 3 tackle sets to help our completion rates.

Just with these 3 simple rule changes our stats would dramatically improve.
