Well if that's his attitude then he should stand down immediately. 3 years and 10 million dollars for pathetic performances. Why Bother?

No.

Can Brian Smith be fired - indications are probably not - we're gonna be stuck with him until the end of 2006. :?

Ok then.

Instead of bitch, winge, and moan, complain, feel sorry for oursleves and let our team turn into the laughing stock and give Raaaaaaaay enough to sing about for 6 hours....

Brian, you've stuffed up for the last 2 years. You've made mistakes and we've slipped. Not acceptable :!:

But you're the coach that we're stuck with for the next 2 years. We hate it, but not much we can do. So get in there and fix it. Get rid of the non-performers, especially the high paid monkeys. Give the young guns a chance to develop. Be tough with your non-performing pets.

Turn the talent into a team.
You've done it before...do it again before you go down in history as the best coach never to win a premiership.

There are two trains of thought here Godfather.

One is......there is nothing we can do but Brian can......he can resign.

Or........

He can do a Nathan Brown last week and give plenty of kids a go.
(I know Nathan had no choice.......but Brian does)
That means pissing off people that he has relied upon in the past, and that includes WAGON.
I'm NOT on my high horse here, but he is really stale meat. and if we want to talk about SERIOUS CHANGE AT THIS CLUB, he has to be the first to go.

SADLY, I believe he has just been re-signed.
Geez that shits me.

The real problem now with all the bad press is that Brian Smith will be playing for a win, he will be desperate and he will pick players on their last performance, the vicious cycle will continue and spiral downwards. Smith is reactionary. What he needs to do is pick some combinations and give them a chance, show some faith.

Sadly, he did that with Wagon.
Even more sadly, it was the wrong choice.
It just took him 8 weeks to find out.

The Board has to come out now and show their hand
They cannot be silent and let the uncertainty continue.

Either get Brian out NOW and stop the rot, or back him with everything we have got until the end of 2006.

This will give the person in charge a clear mandate, clear goals as to what the levels. Will make it easier to attract and keep our quality players if they know who is in charge.

The Board has to come out and let the coach know where he stands.
Then he can either get the hell out, or start a plan as to how he is going to get us out of this mess.

Godfather,

That is brilliant........

But what are the chances of that????????????????

Buckleys and NONE.

Fitzy has a job to save as well.

Well, I'm guna continue to say it.

BRIAN SMITH MUST BE SACKED!!!!!

F**k the milion bucks payout. It's cheap, when you think that probably $8 million is spent on the team per year, and the benefits of a bigger gate, more TV exposure and finals prizemoney, and the eventual increase in sponsorship $!

Twas round 4 2003 that I realised that Supercoach Smith was past it. Like an old Led Zeppelin record that was brilliant when released, they day came when Jimmy Page just couldn't churn out riffs anymore. Brian Smith, too, has passed over the crest of his ability.

Now, the bagging has stopped. HJ's militia attitude of 2003 has now changed to a wavering mishmash of indecision. MITS sits silent. Parra Pete has slunk back into his hole. Go Parra (the original) has become Went Parra. Smiths once blazing guns are falling silent.

There are ways of getting rid of Smith. Push him out. Do a Stuart Raper on him, or what Norths did to Peter Louis. Take his richts from him. Start with player purchasing and retention. Then deny him the right to employ his preferred lower grade coaches. Impose a selection committee, with, say, Ray Price as chair.

Get rid of him. Push him out. DO IT!!!!!!

What I'd like to know is why doesn't Fiztgerald even talk to Brian Smith, ask him to step down, offer him a reduced payout. Let's see. Smith gets 500K for for remaining 2 and a half years of his contract, not a bad little sum considering he doesn't have to do anything to earn it. Then we get a new younger coach, say Dean Pay or Jason Taylor and sign them for 200K per season as they are unproven at the top level. That way the club only loses maybe 200 grand, the fans are happy, and we can build a sucessful football side again.

We went through the same shit,Pearce had the team but couldn't coach,Lamb didn't have as good as team but took us to new lows.We hung in there and now it looks as though we are on the rise{thanks Tim & Royce}so you just have to hang in there and weed out the non contributors.
Sheens is in his second year now and most of the non contributors/can't cut it players have gone.Smith took you to the top in 2001,he just needs to pick the team on form not on name and things will slowly turn around.
You guys will be back.
