Despite what Cameron Smith says, if England win this match, they are not the number 1 team in the world..

They have bragging rights for a year, but the World Champions are NZ as they won the World Cup..

Australia will be World champs in 2017..

Agree with you Coastbloke. However, I'm hoping Australia can regain the no 1 spot next W/C.

Being World Champions doesn't necessarily make you 1 in the rankings.
If NZ lost every match since the WC would they still be number 1? Hell no. But they would still be world champs until next time

According to RLIF rankings, Australia are number one.
I doubt England would even rise to second if they won the Four Nations, not 100% sure though.

That was after a world cup that was unfair to PNG.
Would be interested to see it after all these tournaments are finished.

I find it amazing that Australians can still passionately support the Kangaroos, doesn't anyone realise how much their domination has killed the international game?

I find it amazing that you think like that.
It's Australians supporting their national team ffs.
Other teams have had the chance to knock us off our perch, but we keep getting back on.

Reallly?? All my mates feel the exact same. I think the last time I got exicted about Australia winning was the 95 WC when I was 15. I understand people go for their national team but it is so dire there might not be a national team left if things keep going the way they are. Our only hope is NZ.
