Meanwhile, Newcastle fullback Robbie O'Davis is certain to leave the Knights at the end of the season after the club offered him $8000 to re-sign for 2005.

O'Davis, in doubt for Friday night's clash with St George Illawarra because of a broken jaw, will weigh up his options and may head to England next year.

$10000 for Robbie O'Davis would be a bargain, might add a bit more experience to the bench.

Tell me again, with Hodgo and the heir apparant Simon Greally, why we would offer a contract of any size to a washed up, injury prone, druggie?????

he's still got speed to burn and is pretty elusive..
may be able to stick him on the wing.. but he is so short under a bomb against a rampaging opposition winger i wouldn't like his chances..

no thanx

Don't need him. We have fullback well & truly covered. If he wants to play on in the NRL he might try following the path of previous Knights who were passed their "use by dates", & head to Souths. The Rabbitohs don't seem to mind taking risks with aging, injury prone players (Eg. Muir, MacDougal, Hill).

Odavis was a top player in his prime. I don't believe the reports that Newcastle only offered him 8K. He is one of their favourite sons & I doubt they would insult him by offering such chump change. It's more likely that they told him that is all that is left if they are to remain under their salary cap.

I beleive he was offered 8000, up front, plus match payments and what they could get from the 10 year concessions

Ex druggie. It was 6 years ago.. I dont see why people always keep bringing it up.

I agree. Let it go.[/quote]

I can see why you'd be saying that, but O'Davis did it to cheat, pure and simple. What Buddha did was puerly recreational, and forgivable. He didn't do it to cheat his peers.

Its hard to call someone a druggo I believe for anything thats happened more than a year ago, cause unless there on it now then they arent druggos. Im sure theres more players in the NRL who have done it, actually I would be very confident, just not caught - or have at least done some sort of recreational drug. O'Davis, Schifcofske, MacDougall, Buddha have all done something in the past, but let them go its been a while.

On Buddha V O'Davis, lets not get too biased... sure there were diffrent circumstances, but they both did the one thing. They both did an illegally banned substance in the NRL.

How would you like it if other people from other clubs started to bring up the past few years indiscretions at the Wests Tigers by certain players

It was last century and he paid his time and he has learned from it leave it alone!!!

That's the thing MT, what Fieldy and Buddha did was puerly recreational. They cheated no-one, but themselves. Hoppa on the other hand, well, if the Canterbruy recruit hadn't had laughed, it wouldn't have gotten out of control, they way that it did.

I know we can't point the finger (no pun intended), but I think what Roidie O' Saveus did, was worse than Hoppa, Buddha, and Fieldy combined.

I think your missing the point that I was trying to make, he has paid his time for that mistake and he isn't doing it at the moment which would infact mean he isn't a "druggie" anymore now wouldn't it ????

They cheated the fans and the club not just themselves, and it did get out of control and it was at our club, you can say all the what if's but at the end of the day it happened and now people realise it was in the past and they leave it there just like we should with O'davis thats all I'm saying!

I disagree, what Hoppa did gained world wide coverage didn't it ???? Did O'davis make the world headlines ????

I think that proves my point ;-)
