Re: LG end's its Sponsorship..
LG Electronics will not renew sponsorship deal with Cronulla

By staff writers
May 21, 2009 The future of financially-struggling NRL club Cronulla is in serious doubt after their major sponsor, LG Electronics, refused to renew their deal with the club for next season.
The Sharks have had a turbulent 2009, with the Matt Johns sex scandal and Reni Maitua's drug ban adding to the club's crippling financial woes and poor performances on the field.

LG's Marketing Director David Brand said the recent controversies involving the club contributed to the decision to to renew the company's sponsorship.

"We have had a successful association with rugby league and the Sharks but we no longer see the benefits of an ongoing sponsorship given the evolution of our brand.

"While the recent controversies around the NRL, and the Sharks in particular, were certainly a significant element in our decision we also considered the direction of our company and where we want to take the LG brand."

I couldn't care less about the club.

But their fans don't deserve this.

I'd be wreck if Saints were to go under.

It's their fault in the 1st place if they showed up to games the club wouldn't be in this situation. It was the same thing when Sth's got booted, their fans wouldn't turn up, then cried when they got booted. There fickle fans are sh*t and don't deserve a team! They were 3rd pretty much all year last year and still had sh*t crowds. At least Sth's fans weren't turning out cause there team kept coming last and only winning like 3-5 games a year! f**k Scumnulla!

I agree with some of the comments above. I don't feel sorry for their fans.
Like jasdragon said, the Sharks were highly competitive last season but the fans didn't show. They almost had a full house against the Dragons, but that was because the Saints fans packed the stadium out.
The supporters are complaining, but they don't show up and don't put their money into the club. The blue and white army thats at every game - they don't even support the actual club! They think they are great fans because they have their own special Sharks fanatical jersey, but thats sponsored by the Taren Point bowling club and some other sponsors. True supporters would all turn up in the current authentic NRL gear because that is what supports the club financially...

Ah well, what do I care.

Sharks v Dragons - 40 wins each...
GO DRAGONS! In what may be the final derby - Dragons to finish historically on top! 41 wins!

You know, had Bennett not joined the dragons along with the recruits he brought, I swear we could have been in not as bad a position as the sharks, but still in a pretty bad way.

Andrew Ettinghausen once said something like, "It doesn't matter which team you support, as long as you support a team."

It was his TV fishing show when some boatie told him he wasn't a sharks supporter. lol, but a good attitude from ET I thought.

The Sharks fans I've met are alright. Gents such as Dean Moriarty, millersnose, Mr Angry and I've spoken to Frenzy on the phone. Plus I can see a there are quite a few others that I'm sure would be great to meet outside of the forum cage. Would love to meet Quigsy for example. And gunnamatta bay once mailed me some St George badge stickas which was a very nice gesture. It's hard not to feel for the good supporters who just enjoy rugby league regardless of the club they support.

Remember, a lot of these guys have chosen to support the club of their district, especially those who were born after the late 60s. Nothing wrong with that. Moreover, if Cronulla were never admitted into the comp in 1967, many of these sharks supporters we know today would most likely be St George supporters.

It's the Sharks club that has let them down, too many years of poor decisions, and bad management.

Meanwhile, the dice is still rolling, Gallop is meeting them tomorrow. From that meeting we'll either be hearing about a rescue package of some sort, or the removalists will be trucking them out at season's end.

How so? The sharks' woes have very little to do with just having a bad season on the field. Fact is, that's the least of their worries. Their very existence is being brought into question.

Compared to Cronulla, St George is in a much stronger position financially, and have been for decades.
Sponsorship at Saints is rock solid in comparison.
Plus there are no scandals on the same level that the Sharks are having.

Hard to feel sorry for a club you were brought up to hate however, they have been bailed out several times.

I do have some compassion for the fans that go to all of their games. On the LG thing, wouldn't buy a LG T.V. even if they paid me.
