Anyone know where I can find a list of Beatles songs and who wrote which?

Obviously it's easy to find out what songs were written by George and Ringo. More interested in a list that notes who the main contributors of each of the Lennon/McCartney written songs - John or Paul?

Ta.

The thumb of rule for main contributor for Lennon/McCartney songs was:

If he sings it, he wrote it.

Except Day tripper, Lennon wrote that one.

They also disputed who wrote Eleanor Rigby.

Cheers guys. I thought that was the general rule. I knew of a web pages that had all the songs and how much each contributed - EG: 80% Paul and 20% Lennon. Rough estimates, but interesting nonetheless. Problem is the web site is down.

The Beatles Album File and Complete Discography by Jeff Russell may help.
It lists every song from every Beatles Album.

An example
A Hard Days Night 2mins 32
John Lennon: Rhythm Guitar and lead Vocal
Paul McCartney:Bass Guitar and Harmony Vocal
George Harrison:Lead Guitar
Ringo Starr: Drums
George Martin: Piano

The opening chord of this strong opening track shows typical Beatles originality and sounds more like the end of a recording than the beginning.
As the chord fades John double tracks the lead vocals with Paul harmonising in part and sometimes also singing lead vocals.
In the excellent instrumental break in the middle of George's guitar sounds like a harpsichord and Ringo's backing beat rounds the whole thing off.
A good solid opening track which in the film is played over the opening titles.

Yellow Submarine(Lennon-McCartney) 2mins 40
John Lennon:Acoustic Guitar and Backing Vocal
Paul McCartney:Acoustic Guitar and Backing Vocal
George Harrison:Tambourine and Backing Vocal
Ringo Starr:Drums and Lead Vocal
Chorus:Includes George Martin,Patti Harrison,Mal Evans,Neil Aspinall and Geoff Emerick
Session Musicians:Brass Band

Issued as a single with Eleanor Rigby,on the same day as the album(Revolver),this is one of the Beatles most famous sing-along records with an extremely catchy chorus.
The lead vocal comes from Ringo (the only track(on Revolver)to feature him as a vocalist with John Paul and George joining in on chorus.
Some of the many sound effects included were John blowing bubbles through a straw into a bucket of water ,George swirling water round in another bucket, cocktail party sounds,a brass band, various engine room noises and shouted orders.
The final chorus makes use of all the people at the recording-the 4 Beatles,George Martin,Patti Harrison, roadies Mal Evans and Neil Aspinall,Geoff Emerick and presumably several more.
The song was to inspire the cartoon film of the same name which was released 3 years after this recording.

Eleanor Rigby 2mins 11
From Revolver Released 5th August 1966

John Lennon:Not Present
Paul McCartney: Solo Vocal
George Harrison:Not Present
Ringo Starr:Not Present
Session Musicians:Four violins,two violas and 2 cellos

This classic McCartney composition has become another of his standards.
Here it features a lead vocal from Paul who double-tracks in part to produce his own harmonies.
Like Yesterday on the Help album this features only Paul McCartney-John George and Ringo do not sing or play any instrument on this recording.
All of the backing music is played by string octet.
The lyrics make a valid social statement about the loneliness of Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzies empty church.
It is generally thought that Paul wrote this song after John made his now famous comment "Christianity will go.It will vanish and shrink.I needn't argue about that.I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now.I dont know which will go first rock and roll or Christianity......
