With all this talk of us being very close to the cap in 2014 with all these signings we have made wanted to ask or bring up a point that might work in our favor. Now I'm not exactly sure how this works . But jaryd hayne debuted in 2006 with the club at fg level. And played all his juniors with us since 2001
-2002 . Does the 10 year cap exemption start when they first make grade or when they debut at first grade ? Fui would be in the same boat there aswell . Could we be using this as a way to save a cheeky few hundred k in cap ? And yes I also understand there is only so much that can be claimed outside of the cap for long serving players .

i don't think the 10 yr thing is much cap relief at all ..... and who knows what the hell the salary cap will be in 2014??? - hell for all we know melbourne will cheat again and the nrl will bend over backwards to change the rules to make sure they make the cap a bit bigger to help them

The 10 year excemption is capped so I'd assume it's already allocated to Hindy and Burt. If they retire at the end of next year they'll probably have changed the salary cap rules entirely so it's a bit irrelevant discussing it now.
