Cowboys had a point in that game, way more than they did in 2014 of which it was definitely a knock on and the carry on afterward was bizarre. I understand it was peak conspiracy theory time for the cowboys though after the hand of god and 7 tackle set the previous 2 seasons.
That was a terrible decision, no way it was a knock on. They get called like that most of the time, so it was at least consistent. Doesn't make it right though. The previous 2 seasons just made it more memorable/devastating/hilarious than most shit calls.

Of course it was a knock on, it hit his hand and went forward.

The 2004 Cows v Chooks game was interpreted as a controversy of the Cowboys players not packing the scrum in time by the video creator.

For mine that's the wrong issue, the mistake from the ref was that Mini knocked on and Roosters players clearly re-gathered the ball from an offside position, and it should have been a penalty awarded in front of the posts.

Why a penalty in front of the post ?, I agree Mini knocked it on and a player from an offside position fell on it but it was wider out and nowhere near the post, the penalty out wide would have gave the Cowboys one, maybe two plays to score as they needed a try as the score was 19-16 to the Roosters.

The Parramatta vs Manly minor semi final replay 1978 , Greg Hartley awarded a 7th tackle try to Steve Martin from Manly and also 2 more 7 tackle sets and Parramatta received 3 lots of 5 tackle sets by Hartley.
Ray Price was sent off just before halftime but John Gray was then sent off early in the second half.

Cows have been in a few. I cant recall what year but Cows vs Chooks and that merkin Lui got pinged for a knock on that wasn't costing Cows the one of the great comebacks and progression in the finals.

It seems Cows are on the wrong end of a few & Chooks are on the right end of them. Politis must be a wizard.
2014, and it was most defs a knock on.

Can't let a team get 20+ points ahead and then cry about the officiating at the end, the f**king carry on by my own teams supporters was cringey as hell and made me pretty embarrassed to be an NQ fan.

The 2004 one vs East's i'm still filthy about though........

The thing about that 2014 semi final that always stays with me is how the media totally lies when they have a narrative to sell. On Good Friday the next year (the infamous James Graham penalty game) the journos and commentators immediately came to the referees defence saying we should be so proud that they can call correct decisions under such pressure. Yet when they did the same thing in that semi final they crucified them going on about a conspiracy against the cowboys. Tallis’s behaviour immediately after was disgraceful

Meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but the first ever GP game, Parra vs Manly...Matt Petersen penalised in golden point for being offside when he went about 38m behind the point of contact.

Mostly controversial because Parramatta has never had a man with such luscious hair be so hardly by. If it had been Corey Pearson no one blinks

Tallis tried to bait JT in the moments after on live TV into blowing up about it. Tallis is a pure gronk and tbh he should renounce his NQ heritage, ending his career the way we did in '04 was *chefs kiss*

I'm glad Paul Green (RIP) called it how it is in that '14 presser though and blamed ourselves for it. This trait was pretty evident from him early on in NQ but when he was starting to blame the refs in 2019 i knew his days were numbered as our coach as the pressure was visibly getting to him up in NQ.

The 2004 Cowboys v Roosters prelim already got a mention, so here's some more:

The 2012 Decider (TM). Qld awarded a try from a clear obstruction, which ultimately sealed the game (and the series) for them.

2014 Game 2: NSW are all set to win the shield back for the first time in 8 years, having just scored from Trent Hodkinson. From the kick-off, with less than 10 to play and the Blues up by 2, Sharon Woods doesn't get out of the way and the ball grazes him. But the officials don't want to look at it again, not when history could be made. Game on, series win Blues.

The 2016 dead-rubber. NSW play like absolute rubbish and Qld are all set to sweep the series, but cleansweeps are bad for the concept of Origin (TM, Ch.9, betting agent) and it's also Paul Gallen's last ever Origin game so strings are pulled all night to keep NSW in the contest. Right when it looks like the game is done, NSW arse their way to a miracle try so Gal gets his final conversion kick, chaired off a winner and Laurie Daley keeps his job for another 12 months (in hindsight, a grave mistake). Even Joey Johns is grumbling after the game at the blatant stitch-up job that favoured his side all night.

The 2019 Decider (no TM, as it was at Accor and not The Home Of Origin (TM Ch.9, QRL). NSW are cruising when Tyson Frizell is penalised for an "escort" penalty, the likes of which happen dozens of times normally with no penalty in a regular game. But Qld need a try to keep the contest alive, so penalty Maroons. Tramp Stamp scores from the ensuing set of 6 as the commentators gush about how amazing it is that this happens time and time again in Origin. Thankfully, justice prevails as the Blues stage their own miracle try in the dying seconds to win the game- and the series. According to JT in the post-match, NSW were "probably the better side" but this is ok because it's JT so it's just #passion, not at all a #whinge like Joey does.

2020 Game 1: With NSW trailing and a minute left, Felise Kaufusi gets to hold down in the tackle and drain the clock for a full 30 seconds unpenalised. Even after this time wastage, NSW appear to have one last shot at glory, but the ref blows full time right as Cleary looks to dive for the line and score. It doesn't matter, so long as millions of Qlders and the betting agencies are happy.

2020 Game 3: Fox is chasing a kick and taken off the ball when he is all set to score and tie up the Decider (TM) late in the game. In any other game it'd be a penalty try, but not this time because...reasons. It ultimately proves the difference as the Worst Qld Team Ever (TM Paul Gallen, QRL, The Courier Mail) wins the game and the series. Thank goodness KWEEEEEEENSLANDUH!!! is an actual thing, not at all influenced by 50/50 decisions going their way in Decider(TM)'s, otherwise Origin as we know it would have died years ago.

I guess Origin really is different...

Thread has some potential for sure, no doubt there's plenty of posters on here that remember every time their team was wronged in the last 30 years.
Mid 2000's Panthers were up by either 2 or 4 and the Dogs put a 14th player on the field and then score off an overlap in the corner in the 79th minute to win.

Sport is truly about hate and not love

Are you talking about how he went straight up to JT and tried to bait him into crying conspiracy?

The moment I heard Green (in the press conference) take full responsibility for the loss and echo JT's sentiment on the field, was the moment I thought "The Cowboys are a serious chance at going all the way next year (2015) because they no longer have the refs as an excuse ready to go if they lose".
