Here's 2 of them. 2 very important aspects of discipline where this Sharks team differs little from those of the past few years

Fourth in the league for errors with 93 (Top 114 - Rabbits)

Third in the league for penalties with 55 ( (Top 59 - Raiders)

McInnes and Wilton have 7 each for a total of 25% of the total penalties conceded

Taken from foxsports lab and nrl.com

Spot on. Discipline has been frustratingly poor. Prime example was Wilton bumping that kick chaser last week when WK was always going to get there first. Their game management is not sharp and we dont have someone who owns it.

Just for the fun of it. The Sharks had only conceded 26 penalties in the first 8 rounds last year. 84 errors

I will concede rule changes have increased penalties for all sides but FMD DOUBLE?

Also, the ineffective tackles stat isn't pretty reading for us either. Though I'm not exactly sure what they consider an ineffective tackle specifically to be.

I’m no coach but I want him to stop trying to make a 1 on 1 low tackle. I want him to get in front of his attacker or outside him and slow him down enough til help arrives. But maybe that’s just me.
Yeah the go low flat footed thing is definitely not working. Is it 4 tries his poor 1 on 1's have been directly responsible for

But people used to whinge about Jimmy Maloneys missed tackles, but I always liked his style…. Get in front of the big blokes, smash into them as hard as physically possible and hope that impact was enough to halt/slow their momentum until support defenders could arrive. He just needed to not hit them around the melon as often.
I’d certainly prefer the Jimmy defence technique to the Hynes version.

Hynes should be decking blokes left right and centre with his size. Has some work to do on his defence but it's definitely fixable. Just Needs to put his body on the line a bit more and buy time for other defenders to get there and help finish it off.

Yes. There are missed tackles and there are missed tackles. Maloney was a small body who tended to move up quickly and hit them but could bounce off in order to create some time for the cover to get there.

Hynes is a much bigger body but doesn't tackle like a bigger body. Seems to go low a lot and contact is not especially strong. I suspect he has a sternum (or similar) injury and is protecting it from impact by not going for the front on ball and all tackle. His lack of physicality has stood out a few times eg Wighton's try, Canberra's last try where he didn't wrap up the ball allowing the offload and the Capewell miss where he barely made contact.

Hynes is a work in progress and will develop all aspects of his game over time. The early season media hype covered over some of the rough edges in his game. Overall, he has been good for us and will get better.

Hynes will work it out. As mentioned he has the size and can tackle. Right now it is simple technique and decision making that he is still working out.

Gal broke down the miss so well in the post game on 9 last week that lead to a try. Was explaining how low Nicho got in his stance gave him no chance and how easily that is corrected by Nicho and those around him.

Hynes will work it out after he watches Wighton. Love him or hate him he's a great defensive five eighth who gets in front and really only goes low if beaten a little bit.

Hynes is headed for a head knock the way he's going now. Knee in the head is possible/probable.

Moyza has 8 penalties

Does he? Interested in where that comes from. I use 4 sources and guess what? None of them really match and nrl.com don't have good overall stats and half the time you have to trawl the play by play summaries.

FOX lab give the best format but rarely match nrl.com which I guess are the "official" stats but FOX does have Middleton (I think)

I get so lost looking at stats, everyone is different and wrong.
A week or 2 ago I was rewatching the game and stats had Tricky at 4 tackles and was closely watching him thinking how can he get 4 tackles in 15 min and I counted him up to 7-8 full tackles and a handful of 50/50 ones if u would count them or not.
Then you have the “missed” tackles of players who push extra hard to put more pressure on the player but naturally fall off or rush in and stop the play for 2 others to wrap up and complete the tackle and theirs count as a miss.
I’m sure coaches only count misses when they are a genuine poor attempt

I think they used to count TMI but not anymore. Won't swear on it though. TMI would be those 50/50s.

I think stats are mostly bullshit. I only post them........No, on second thoughts I'd have to kill ya if I told ya. LOL
