Looking Onwards to 2005

Well we finished the 2004 season in a good way, winning 4 of our last 6, and only 2 wins out of the 8 (granted they would have both needed to be by 50+ points  ). These last few weeks (with the exception of the Penrith Drubbing) would have gone a long way in laying the platform for next year, and i believe we will be a big chance of making the 8 next season. With the younger guys getting some experience under their belt and the addition of two representative players, i'm hoping for bigger things next year.

However, with that being said, there are a couple of players currently in the squad, who i believe should be on the fringe of not retaining their position in first grade next year.

Shayne Dunley: Doesn't seem to have the spark that Randall has from dummy half, and when Randall goes off the team seems to lose a bit in attack. Not to meantion he is terribly ill disciplined.

Sam Harris: I honestly don't know how he is still in first grade, he offers practically nothing. his ball handling skills are poor and he doesn't seem to have an impact on the game.

Solomon Haumono: Similar to Harris, although he has a bit more of an impact, his ball handling skills are poor at times.

Andrew Walker: Has been a bit of a turnstile recently, and hasn't had as much of an impact in attack. Willo is better suited for the 5/8 position, and the last 2 weeks, the team hasn't performed as well once Walker has come on to replace Willo.

With that being said, here's what I'd like to see the squad look like next year.

1. Stewart
2. Donald
3. Stephenson
4. Hicks
5. Hoppa
6. Willo
7. Monas
8. Kite
9. Randall
10. Heckenberg
11. Watmough
12. Kennedy
13. Menzies

14. Leuluai
15. Stewart
16. King
17. Haumono/Harris/Walker/Dunley

Doubt it. Monaghan has proven himself to be an excellent captain.

I agree.. If Monaghan is not captain in 05 it will be a huge injustice. He has done an excellent job.

Ithink that is Harsh on Harris, Early in the year, he was easily our best player and everyone was proclaiming it to the world

Since then he has had some ongoing injury concerns and has dropped of in form, but he'll be back

I hope so, when in form, he's a gun!

Mona's will be captain...I hope..That'd be my team pretty much, except a few minor spots...

Id have Alberts or Peachey before Stephenson. Stephenson is a turnstile. However Walker still reigns biggest turnstile in team. Proves that he is mortal.
I'd also have King starting. He has a bigger impact than Heckenberg and is able to play for longer. Not taking anything away from Hecks tho, you'd struggle to find a more solid player than Hecks in the NRL.

Possibly it was, however, if he has injury concerns he shouldn't be named in the side, the second half of the season he did nothing.

A bit harsh on Walker too. He's been carrying an injury throughout the end of the season. While Willo is a strong defender and tireless worker he does not have the creativity of Walker.

If we can play 75% of our games next year with a fit and healthy halves combo of Monas and Walker then we're in the eight.

Again, if these guys are carrying injuries that are affecting their game, and the team, then they should not be playing.

thats not there problem, the coach shouldn't pick them

just on walker, i like our late season strategy of starting with willow at 5/8 and bringing walker off the bench after 20
