Unanimous support for Wests Tigers NSW Cup team

The Wests Tigers Board of Directors has declared its unanimous support for the Club to field a single stream side in the NSW Cup Competition from the 2013 season.

This decision, taken at a meeting of Directors last night, has been confirmed to the New South Wales Rugby League this morning.

The Club now awaits approval from the New South Wales Rugby League for the Wests Tigers side to enter the NSW Cup Competition in 2013.

Yeah but what do the boards of Wests and Balmain have to say about this????

Why not call the NSW cup team the Wests Magpies and play in Magpies colours? The Tigers got their emblem for the 1st grade side so it would only seem fair to at least give the other side of the merger that much recognition. There's no real reason that the NSW Cup team needs to align exactly with the 1st grade side emblem-wise, The Auckland Vulcans are the feeders for the Warriors for example.

Because we should be moving forward not trying to 'flog' the old and dead Magpies brand. Why should Balmain lose their recognition at that level when the Magpies wouldn't?

WT is the only way to go, and personally I think they should be fully aligned with the FG side in name, jersey, emblem etc. We should be building the WT club, not simply trying push the Magpies selfish attitudes.

And thus alienating that small percentage of Magpies fans that are still around. Keep killing off the history of Wests and Balmain and promoting WT's.

Make sure you take off the Magpie off the sleeve on the WT's jersey and stop using Balmain and Wests heritage jerseys, after all Wests Tigers only have 12 years of history.

They've just about lost Campbelltown, this will just be another nail. They keep sending non-Sydney or pissy drawing Sydney teams out there, it's like they pick out the worst possible match-ups, toss them to Campbo with the occassional sweetener and hope no one notices.

Since the Wests Tigers formed they played the following teams the following amount of times at Campbelltown;

Leichhardt in brackets, they're not immune either. They get Melbourne most years.

Manly - 0 (8)
Souths - 0 (6)
Saints - 2 (1)
Parramatta - 1 (4)
Penrith - 6 -(3)
Newcastle - 7 (1)
Canberra - 6 (0)

The Dogs and Saints once each since they split the HG's to 3.

So they chances are that next year the 2 of the 4 teams the Tigers will play at Cambelltown will be Penrith and Canberra.

To see other teams play, I have to go to Parramatta, Penrith or Dogs home games.

I expect someone like the Roosters to make a serious move on the area soon, it's ripe for the picking. Actually, I hope they do, it would serve the f**king Tigers right.

Balmain have lost nothing, the Wests Tigers is Balmain re-branded.

It's nothing more than the second coming of the "Sydney Tigers".

There's nothing selfish about the Magpie attitudes you sanctimonious prick, if The Wests Tigers decided to change to the Magpies and punt BRET, there isn't an ex-Balmain fan that wouldn't be frothing at the mouth with anger.

They've been preparing the end of the Magpies for years.

f**k the Wests Tigers club, deceitful bastards, I hope they get their commeuppance.

10 more years of Sheens as coach and a scorching case of leprosy for everyone on the board would be a good start.

I wish there was a 'like' or 'thanks' button on this forum.

True on the games bit. I moved out here in 1990. I've gone to Campbelltown/Orana a mere handful of times to watch Wests play my team (Saints) in all those years. The Macarthur area gets 9/10s of bugger all in the WT universe. Yet they are held up as some sort of democratic wonder as a JV. The Illawarra at least get 6 games plus they are the prime area for training, and it seems for community work, in the other JV which is pilloried for being 1 sided.

The real ironic part is that reputedly it is the Wests side of the JV that is the more solvent.

How long until the Wests Magpies make a bid to take over the JV, as Balmain is financially dead in the water

The development at Rozelle will eventually get through in some form. This should make the Balmain side of the JV functional again.
