Jersey Flegg: Cronulla 32 def. Wests 16

Bryson Goodwin could be the answer to our goalkicking problems in a year or two if he conitunes to progress. Kicked six from seven - most of them from difficult angles. Hits the ball very sweetly.

Premier League: Wests 22 def. Cronulla 17

Cronulla led 17-16 with 3 mins to go, but had a kick charged down and Wests were able to score with a minute to go. Paul Franze scored a 60-metre solo try busting two tackles close to the sideline. Mick Russo looked good in his return from injury. Jason Williams again got some nice offloads away. Hassan Saleh had a good first half - backing up and creating opportunities, then was quiet in the second half. Saia Makisi's kick returns were strong - almost always beat the first tackler.

Flegg have the team to challenge for the title. They have lost some games they should have won but thats footy. As long as they make the 8 they are a good show for the title. Sounds like it was a convincing win against wests who even though are not higher than them on the table are no slouches.

Jardine Bobongie made some strong runs in Jersey Flegg and has a decent step on him. Scott Porter's kicking game was very good. Tony Caine scored an individual try after a long diagonal runs from 30m out.

We're starting to field quite a young Flegg side so it is encouraging if they can go quite well. Flegg is under 20's, but the likes of Lovegrove could play under 17's, and Brown, Caine and Douglas could all play in an under 18 side.

Did Aitken play reserve grade, or was he rested just incase he is needed to play tomorrow?

Thanks for those results Paulman. If i am ever going to see these 2 grades go round it means a trip to Sydney, have to do that one day.

Good to see that players like Franze, Williams and Russo are applying some pressure to the first grade team. Pressure can only be good from the lower grades
