Sharks lower grades
With wins in the Premier League and Jersey Flegg, added to the NRL victory over Manly, the Cronulla Club recorded their first clean sweep at Brookvale Oval since 1973.
Premier League enjoyed a strong win over the competition leading Manly Sea Eagles when they held on to win by 23-16.
After the teams were level 4-4 at half time the Sharks overwhelmed Manly in the second half to score an impressive victory. Man of the match for the Sharks was big front rower Jason Williams who took the ball forward strongly for the entire game and was rewarded with two tries. Dean Bosnich also played well for the Sharks and young halfback Travis Burns put in a polished display, potting over the game-sealing field goal with a few minutes left on the clock.
In the Jersey Flegg the Sharks were forced to fight to the finish but eventually ran out 16-8 winners over the Manly side. Big forward Jacob Selms in his first game in the Flegg competition was voted players player by his teammates. Centre/winger Ben Yellavich also made a successful return from injury and crossed for one of the Sharks three tries. Premier League
