It wouldn't surprise me if the contract offer is withdrawn if this drags out
I think he will get all the time he needs. If the offers for Dearden that have been reported are correct I reckon he stays anyway. I think Luai is better, but their MVs would be similar.

Him getting all the time he needs. This has been on going. The club needs a definitive answer so other players can be re-signed.
It's been 2 weeks. It's not as if there is anyone on the market we need to throw money at. The only rush is to satisfy fans and really we are way down the list of importance in these matters.

I assume we have factored in potential upgrades to whoever needs them in our offer, so whets the urgency?

The only scenario I see their being pressure is if the club thinks we might lose someone we want to keep. Having the 2 week "cooling off" period now works in our favour. Eg Taylan May signs with the Dogs, then we need to work it out with Luai if we want to throw more at Taylan. Until that kind of thing happens it doesn't matter.

Your last paragraph summed it up.

Let's look at the logical in-house replacements for Luai.
Jack Cole is signed long-term. No rush on him.
Brad Schneider is signed for 2025. No rush on him.
Daine Laurie is only signed for this season, but we would be mad to extend him sight unseen. He had attitude problems at the Tigers, and only has a handful of NRL games at 6.

We'll give Luai as long as he needs. He's a massive part of our team on and off the field. We want him to stay. I don't think an ultimatum is the right way to handle him.

Apart from his decision to wear a Panthers jersey after the 2021 grand final win, what other attitude problems did he have?

The club will put a time limit on it, So they know what they are doing with that money.

I have been saying all along, I can't see anyone throwing that much at him. It is looking that way

As a WT supporter I don't think that was even an attitude problem....just a bit of young guy situational unawareness. He got a bit lost at FB ( pre Bula) and was dropped but showed his potential at 6...apparantly he'd hoped to stay on and I wish he had...I think he could have gone well under Benji

His heart was clearly with the Panthers

At this point we don't really need Luai. Nathan showed in the GF that he should be playing both sides and touching the ball twice a set.
I think at this point the club has shown we don’t need to spend more money on him than what we have offered.

Hopefully he takes the deal, if not, as you said, we’ll be fine.

I’ll be surprised if he leaves.
