I don't know what garbage Marshall and Sheens are trying to feed people about Lui's greatness and value to this team but he is simply not first grade material. He needs a year or three in the Jim Beam Cup learning how to control a football team and get his all-round game in order.

Imagine you were an oppositon coach planning how you were going to keep Lui in check in your gameplan. It would take less than one minute to work out the his passing game can't hurt you, his kicking game can't hurt you and his running game can't hurt you so therefore let him have the ball as much as possible!

On a sidenote.. anyone notice Greg Bird trying to milk a penalty every time he had the ball? What a gimp. That sh*t needs to be outlawed from the game.

Agree BUT two dropped balls cost us two tries tonight..well actually our crap handling in the first twenty cost us badly and a Farah brain explosion when he kicked instead of passing to Marshall. The only two positives from tonight, we didn't give up and get belted and thank goodness for Gareth Ellis.

Agree, not genuine 1st grade material yet but we have no other options.
He will be a very good player but is learning on his feet.
Simon Dwyer diasappointed tonight, blew his chance in the starting side.
He is another who is learning on his feet and will be a very good player.

This loss will hopefully be a blessing, I expect to see a much improved start next week, and hopefully some players back.

The thread is far from a kneejerk reaction to tonight's game. I've watched him closer than any other player this season and I'm amazed at the lack of improvement. He hasn't had one game in his career where you can sit back and say 'wow, so that's what this guy can do' or 'now I understand why Sheens picks him in the team'.

Front-rower:
Couldn't agree more, lets hope that tonight was the shocker that both Farah and Marshall need to get out of their system and now they can play positive football.

Shanghai:
Disagree with you there - what they say publicly may not be how they really feel but they can't put the kid down now, he's all they have for the end of the year. Praising him like they did may help the kid for the rest of their season, dropping him and you'd play who at 5/8? or who at 1/2 if they left Marshall at 5/8. FYI Marshall didn't play well tonight, it wasn't Lui's fault they lost.

Mate you mustn't have any staff reporting to you, because you don't put them down in public:sarcasm:

He is a 6- end of story.....

Greg Bird is a complete disgrace conned the ref on several occasions and tried to con him every time he got tackled....the good thing is 100% this will come back on him....the refs will watch the tape, work out he has conned em and come finals time they will look the other way - like they did for Mat Utai......

The defensive kick into into the Titan's dead in goal at around the 75th minute was probably not the sign of a natural (or confident) footballer. Others might be less kind. Lote and Brown must have been f**king furious.

The major problem with Lui however (imo) is not that he is slow (in every facet) or soft (undeniably) but is that he has absolutely no defensive technique (nor defensive commitment). They ran Bird at him tonight with predicatable results and every finals team will do the same. Unless WT can find a point man to cover him (ala Tonie Carrol with Lockyer) that channel will be exposed time and time again.

Have no idea why Sheens and Marshall talk him up. My prediction is that 2 years from now people will be saying Robert who?

Meaney can be forgiven - helluva tough match to come into.

Beau Ryan is a passenger.

Gareth Ellis and CH are warriors and probably deserve better.

That's spot on! The thing is, we are a week out from the finals and I would rather a 7 who has been playing, than a gamble. He needs an airbag, not sure who is suited to the role best though.

No coincidence their first two trys came through his channel... even with Ellis doing his tackling.

Gotta support him now though, it's far too late to do anything else.

I totaly agree on all points Charlie, he was sh*t this time last year and a year later he is still sh*t. I understand we have no other choices at this stage but it comes back to Sheens sticking with crap that the whole world can see except him, Johny Cronk revisited. At this stage it looks like Lui again in 2011 and thats what is pissing me of the most :x

He should be ready by the time he is 30!

He just looks so slow...or is that just my imagination..what ever happened to those nippy halfbacks...did any survive being run over in junior football ?

You need to have a good football brain to be a halfback ....and high intelligence also helps.

Test all our junior players the one with the highest IQ should be developed as our next halfback...it would also help if he could tackle, kick, pass and preferably be as fast as the wingers.

I can't even see any potential in him. Sadly Sheens will probably be put on a lifetime contract now we made the 8 and Lui will probably be given another 4 years as playmaker before Sheens announces he was only ever a stop gap measure and then re-signs John Morris.

My guess is that he's the wrong side of 30 now, despite what the official stats say. Already starting to blow up. Like Mark Ella's far less talented cousin at the end of the bar.

Interesting watching Prince on the slo-mo on the no try to Brown - he's in absolute agony though needled to the bejesus but goes on to win the game.

Maybe Lui might watch it on the game tape.

He is 20 and will play a major part in our Finals - good or bad....

Don't see him being lazy as a defender.....

he is a lazy, inept, dare i say, completely and utterly pointless person in defence.

Why isn't he pushed out to the wing in defence?

I'd take Sandow and even Joe Williams over Robert Pooi

His lack of defence would be excusable if he was making up for it with better offence.
I only recall him taking the line on once last night for a half-break and then nothing but hand offs or passing to Benji or Robbie.
