Lui has not had a "great season" and is not going "very well". If you think that you're either high or don't know too much about football.

Robert Lui missed 4 (count em) cruical tackles last night - two of them directly lead to opposition tries. Another shoddy attempt gave GC a penalty 20m out right in front at a crucial stage.

These are facts.

"kids make mistakes"? Sure they do. Point is that kids who make those kind of mistakes have no place in a (ostensibly serious) 1st grade NRL team in 2010.

Calling people who reasonably point this out turds and dogs is just juvenile.

Go back and watch the tape carefully.

The problem is not that he had an off night but rather that he has systemic problems with his defence.

Come finals, all teams - and particularly St George, Canberra and Manly - will run through or over him. Make no mistake he will be heavily targeted and might well sustain injury (half hearted tackling is often more dangerous than full commitment as you may or may not know).

Whether Ellis, Fulton et al can cover for him adequately is imo highly questionable.

Wrong player at the wrong time.

Make no mistake :lol: he will be targeted :lol: - f*cken Sherlock homes hey!! ...what a f**king scoop!!!!

Teams will target the smallest, most inexperienced player and worse defender on the paddock..... thanks for the insight..

Helpful as always Borat.

What is it? Mother issues, small penis, no personal power in the workplace?

It's OK pal, I understand.

I was actually talking to the other guy but if my comments somehow help with your self-esteem issues, hey, I'm happy to help.

Much love,

Jase

I can't believe we have wankers like you on this forum.

He's had an average season for someone who's been given a HUGE opportunity.
He hasn't taken control of the team yet like a good halfback should and still relies too heavily on Benji or Robbie to get out us of trouble or to get us going.
And where the hell is his kicking game?

To what extent is it up to him to take control of the game?

To what extent is it up to the other playmakers to ease him into it?

To what extent is it up to the coach to come up with some new plays to help bring him into the game if he's struggling?

I don't just mean now, I mean over the last 26 weeks...

Maybe he's not any good; maybe our other playmakers are glory hounds; maybe our coach is inept...

Probably it's a mixture of all these things. It's a real shame.

From what I've seen of the other potential halfbacks we have - Lazarus, Waters - their defence isn't a whole lot better than Lui's.

:sleeper:..most of us here support the club not the individual. We want to see the club win and the best players available must player not "mates". I for one am sick to death of saying next year every year. Sure we have made the play offs this year but twice in eleven seasons is not good enough.

And before you go on a tirade about being a true supporter, how many games have you attened in the last 11 seasons as a "supporter" not many I bet and most of them would of been in 2005 and 2010.

Mate I can go back alot further than 11 years, so you are going to lose that argument.

The reaction to Lui and anger displayed on this forum is the juvenile thing. Support your team, support your players. I fully know the mistakes Lui made last night, but he has also done some very good things this season. I would suggest maybe you need to go back and review the tapes!

I would suggest everyone is entitled to their opinion. IMO John Morris offers more than Lui - at least he can tackle and offers about the same in attack, one good play per 6 games.

I have been watching the tigers (Balmain) since the late 70's. Lui is one of the best young players talent wise I have seen at our club. I still think he is a natural 6. Sure he has a few issues but what 20 year old is fully developed (Tim Brasher and Brad Ftler are about the only 2 I can remember, they still imporved but they were already superstars at 20).

His defence like Lawrence's will get better with time. His attack is very good it is just an issue of working in with the team. That option late in the game when he kicked over the dead ball line was a rookie mistake. He will learn form that. I believe he has the skills he just needs more time

For people saying Walters and Lazurus are better halves. My tip is in 3 years time neither of them will be starters at NRL level whilst Lui will be and will be a very sought after player.

Lui will be in state cup when Moltzen is back.

I believe the orginal plan this year was to play Lui in the first 6-8 rounds at half and then move him back to the state cup or 20's (he still qualifies). This is they way it was planned for Lui's development, however Moltzen's season ending injury changed things.

I like Moltzen as a player and I do think he is a better half than Lui, not sure if our head coach thinks the same.

Someone earlier said that Lui was in the inner circle at the club my mail is that he is not part of that group.

We expect too much from him. Lui wasn't the only player to miss tackles or make mistakes on Friday.

Next year the improvement of the team will depend on the promotion of young players.

The promotion of Finau, Woods, J. Shirnack, Murdoch-Masilia, Bodie Clark and the return of Moltzen has to occur. Mullaney is also needed.

Players like Ryan, Heighington (to UK big $ and chance to play for England), Skandalis and others has to occur. Payten may be a chance of the UK.

A forward pack with Farah, Galloway, Gibbs, Woods, Fifita, Ellis, Fulton, Flanagan, Murdoch-Masila, J. Shirnack looks pretty competitive.

Lui is still a work in progress and we don't have any other options.

He was very good against Penrith and Parra, poor on Friday but this inconsistency will continue for a while. Let's hope he has a good next four games...

Lui is attrocious fullstop. His attack against Penrith and Parra was 2nd rate, his defense worse imo.

Um, he had a hand in three tries vs Penrith, and saved two certain tries against the Eels.

You must have been watching other games...

I think Lui at 20 has fantastic potential and would rate in the top 8 of halfbacks for mine at this stage even. In attack he does things that are special in every game even if they are only little things sometimes they show real talent any decent judge of football can see it. However he is only 20 and of course he struggles in defence although he is better then Sandow who people rave about yet who still cant tackle after 3 yrs of first grade. I think Lui will be half back next year even when Moltzen is fit

Sorry did someone just say they would prefer John Morris than Lui?

That is f**king ridiculous.

Morris at half was a f**king disaster. Could butcher a five man overlap like no other.

People....you see how farkwit is making us fight with each other. All this criticism on Lui comes back to the guy who picks the side. The guy who put all his eggs in one basket with deciding to choose Lui irrespective of current form and performances.

To me, It looks like that he isn't enjoying his football. That has alot to do with playing good footy. He is lacking in confidence. The guy can tackle. I've seen him make some good one on one tackles on some big men. It's an attitude thing. Why isn't he jumping out of his skin with enthusiam? He is young and talented. He should be enjoying and digging in more than he is. Not sure if it's a case of too many chiefs RE: Robbie and Benji having too much say in "A" and him not being able to control the game like he did in the U20's. Not sure. Do his teamates not like/respect him or maybe he just doesn't have it? As I've said before, farkwit should've kept all halfback options available, be open minded and should have given the others more of a go as well.

Just cant agree with you. He is that bad I would rather have John Morris.

Did you watch us in 07, 08 and 09 when Morris was at 7?

Sorry but you have to be kidding...Lui would have more try assists in a dozen or so games than Morris collected in three years.

Look Lui is no superstar, but FFS the kid is 20 and probably wouldn't be in the side if Moltzen was fit. He has deficiencies but you can see there is talent there, even if it's pretty raw.
