A halfback should not be forced to make 25+ tackles every single game.

It means that the backrower is not doing their job.

It is no coincidence that when Dwyer was hooked our game stepped up a gear

Dwyer is still not a starting back rower, only good in attack (kinda like Te'o but with balls and some interest). I'd have Gibbs in the back row with Ellis to better protect both Benji and Lui

He has to work on his technique and stop rushing up so fast.also does he defend on the right side , if so he is most probably seeing more traffic as most teams have a dominant left side attack. As for our attack in the last 15 mins it was more luck, than good management ,that got us home and the fact that we were more desperate than the warriors.

ps It was the Marshall , Farah ,Ellis and ayshford show yesterday so quit it with the over the top praise for Moltzen .I'm not saying he went bad he did have some promising moments but he was not one of the main players in yesterdays win...

Just keep it real stop Gushing....

Call it luck if you will, it does not change the fact Lui did nothing for us in attack. And who said Moltzen got us home? I don't see anyone praising him "over the top", rather you are bringing him into the equation to have a shot at him.

He threw a pass that should be expected of any 1st grade player to a guy who called it while running a great line....

Absolute rubbish, it was a very good pass.

Lui's defense is currently very poor and needs to improve, but he will come good. You watch. If you can't see the kid has talent then you are blind. He is 21 and has played 30 odd first grade games. I am not making excuses because his defensive efforts are not up to scratch regardless of age or experience, but the way many people are carrying on about him its as if he is the worst player to pull on a jumper. He was close to our best player in the finals series last season.

Moltzen is not the answer as he is simply NOT a halfback in any way, shape or form and his selection in the #7 places more pressure on Benji. Moltzen does not have a general play kicking game at all, and is not an organiser hence it forces Marshall to basically play first and second receiver. It works fine when he is having a good day but will fall apart as soon as he has an off day.

Jacob Miller may be the answer longer term and looks a huge talent but I don't think he is ready at this stage. Lui remains the best option and IMO will develop into a fine player.

Rubbish. Last tackle (iirc), most would just pass to Benji and let him kick it into the advertising boards, rather than going down the shortside.

Hybrid, what you say about Lui is probably true, but the problem for me is, it's trying to be sorted out in First Grade & this is wrong. He is certainly not close to our best this year.
I posted earlier, do we need a fulltime half ATM (apparently Storm did it on Monday?), when we have Farrah & Marshal in the team? There are lots of possibilities to consider with this idea.

.

While I personally cant even see the potential in him even his supporters (except Supercoach of course) would have to agree this is the answer

I am never a fan of reducing a position of strength, ie taking Farah out of hooker, I would much rather see the Tigers promote someone to half that is of 1st grade standard

Wasn't so much suggesting taking anyone away from there positions (I thought the Farah to half, was a failure), but more put in someone for what the situation calls for. i.e. a defender, an attacker, a kicker etc. Obviously if you had someone who could do all this, then this thread wouldn't exist?
Just thinking aloud here, but let Benji & Robbie do there thing from where they are, both like to have the ball in their hands, so let them have it?
Don't want to be disrespectful to the halves, but surely anyone can feed a scrum these days?

I agree that Robbie needs to increase his involvement, again I think he has taken a backseat upon instructions from his coach, but a 3rd attacking option can only be a good thing. At this stage I dont even care if its not Moltzen who is my preferred choice, bring Miller up if need be - I dont believe he could possibly be as defensively inept as Lui, and it would not be hard for him to offer more in attack.

I like the Miller option, just wish he was a few years older, so his body is a bit more ready for first grade. But he does appear to have what it takes.
On Moltzen, I thought he was doing OK at centre & he has said his preferred spot is FB, so not sure if putting him at 7 will do much for him or the team?

I dont think anyone can be sure of how successful it will be, but Lui is clearly not the answer at this time. So imo either choose Moltzen or Miller and give them a shot - they cannot be worse than Lui, and if by some miracle they are, then you can bring Lui back and hopefully he will be better for the run in lower grades.

You are clearly watching a different game.

Can I refer you to the last time we tried this. Someone who is not flashy but who was put there to just pass the ball to Marshall and let him do his thing: John Morris. We all know how that worked out.

Picking someone just to pass Benji the ball just places more pressure on Benji.

There is a problem with the quote attachment, that quote was from me.

The last time we tried this was last weekend when Lui went off & it worked OK. I understand your point, but just thinking of other options, that's all.
