Luke Harlen on $100,000

Source is not good though......Rebecca Wilson!

This was the 20 year old jersey flegg/ premier league player we signed from Penrith a couple of weeks ago. Apparently an Aussie rep player as well.

We beat a number of clubs to his signature but it seems we shelled out some "BIG" bananas for his services.

Apparently according to Wilson he was on $20,000 at the Panthers and Sludge shelled out $100,000.

Sludge must have a big wrap on the kid. I hope he's the next Artie Beetson for Sludges sake.

I can't comment on the players talent as I've never seen him.

Has anyone see this guy play.

Looking from Big League magazines he's a prolific try scorer for a prop/second rower.

3% of the cap if my maths is correct.
So if he is half decent, it is not so bad.

Copy the Roosters and buy all the good Flegg players for a heap. That way we get better and other clubs become mediocre :D

I'm all for throwing decent cash at young talent. If we can secure their services at a young age for a couple of seasons and they show promise, the chance of them staying with Cronulla will improve as they come through the ranks here. It seems to be working for the Roosters anyway..

For Bird it was a spot in the top 25 which was the clincher that got him here as i understand it. I have no idea what any player is on at the club (only the reports on the forums) so i dont know what we paid for Bird and Franze at the time.
Like Nulla said its good we are looking to the future and building on our already impressive junior talent. Lets hope Harlen can come through with the youngsters which have been given a go this year.

the duck has no problem with Mr harlen getting 100k; but a smart club would now sign Mr Peachey thus ensuring that mr harlen is actually a freebie!

Mr Peacheys 10 year discount = $100,000 = 1 Mr Luke Harlen

He's only free in terms of the Salary Cap though. We still gotta fork out the $100,000. That's where the problem may lie.

Makes a interesting signing Luke Harlen with him and Jon Green back, will give us some young depth including Keith Galloway, he 2 out of these 3 make very good first graders and 1 of them goes onto SOO then money invested will be wise indeed

I wouldn't trust Wilson as far as I could throw her. And she looks like a fat old skank too.

Bird, Franze and Stephen Ross were all on good money when we signed them, probably between 50000 to 100000. I'd say the first 2 were worth it, but the Ross gamble hasn't worked so far.
