from the Manly Daily:
COOL HAND LUKE EYES EAGLES DEAL
Saturday, July 17th, 2004.
MANLY utility player Luke Williamson hopes to sign a contract with the Sea Eagles next week.
The 26 year old said he has been offered a two year deal and hopes to "put pen to paper" over the next few days in the lead-up to the Sea Eagles next NRL clash with Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.
"I have received an offer," Williamson said last night.
"We will be in discussions over the next week and go from there. Hopefully things will work out. My priority is with Manly and I want to stay."
Williamson said this weekend's bye is "perfect timing" for Manly as they try to avoid the wooden spoon. However, they have a tough month of football ahead with clashes against the Broncos, Canberra, premiers Penrith and the Knights.
"We need a good couple of days off then we'll get stuck into the last seven games and really give it a shake," Williamson, an inaugural Adelaide Ram, said.
