Lets see who is smart enough to pick the event that is fair and just -

1. Hayne gets off for head-butting
2. Lewis gets suspended for a very innocuous dangerous throw despite being a total cleanskin
3. Ben Te'o is allowed to play for Queensland
4. The fact that Storm players are not publicly reprimanded or sanctioned for not cooperating with a forensic audit of the Storms books.
5. Folau is allowed to continue playing for Queensland despite signing with the AFL.
6. Thurston is allowed to swear like a trooper at all match officials without punishment.
7. None of the above.

The above 6 instances are only in the last 2 weeks ! Rugby League in this country is being lead by a bunch of morons. Will the Independent Commission (if it ever gets up and running) be the answer ? Will they make the hard decisions ? Depends who is on the board, but I seriously doubt it.

Think what you like about the AFL (whom I hate with passion more and more by the day) but they have strong leadership, good business sense and an eye to the future. Their NRL counterparts have nothing.

For god's sake - we are being attacked left and right by other codes and the silence from leaders of our game is deafening. Talk about sitting on our hands.

I am disgusted at the way our game is headed and the ridiculous decisions are coming on a daily basis.

The independant commission is a definite step forward if handled correctly and if the right kind of people are sitting on the commission.

Eg: The judiciary is made up of ex players and they are absolutley pathetic in the their balance and consistancy. They seem to hung up on making a "football correct" decision rather than interpreting the rules of the game evenly and justly.

Take Thurston, Hayne & Slater out of the SOO is like wiping your pooper with $50 notes & flushing them down the toilet. The SOO is no longer the game it used to be, its just a cash cow for the suits. Every player can now head-butt, swear at a referee's as the precedent has been set.

and thats where it will fall down. already the speculation is several of the old brigade such as Gallop and Love will retain their positions which wont make it any more independent than what we've got. for it to be independent we really need a cleanout of all current officials

I don't know why people compare the Hayne thing to Thurston. There is a difference between deliberately headbutting an opposition player and throwing an over the top tanty at a ref. Even if he WAS suspended, he would have missed monday night vs the Bunnies anyway and not State of Origin, which probably would have been a favourable outcome considering how that game ended up.

The whole Thurston thing was a consequence of a) The referee being so gutless that he didn't even blow a penalty and b) the NRL cooking up some bogus charge that was never going to stick so they could save face.

I think we all know though, the current judiciary situation is improved but still a long way from being what is required at this level of pro sport.
