Magpies Appoint Joe Cool Written by Wests Football Club Tuesday, 04 October 2005 Western Suburbs have announced the appointment of Magpie Legend John 'Joe Cool' Dorahy as their Premier League coach for the 2006 season.

The Board, WSDRLFC wish to announce the appointment of Mr John Dorahy as head coach of Premier League for season 2006. John is a former Magpie 1st grade rugby league player with international experience. He holds a level 3 ARL coaching certificate and was assistant NRL coach at Wests Magpies in 1999. He has coached in England, having won the Challenge Cup with Wigan. He has vast experience in all aspects of the game of rugby league. The Board also re appointed Mr Leo Epifania as Jersey Flegg coach for season 2006. Leo coached our Jersey Flegg team to the final series in 2005 and the Board is confident that he will continue to achieve success next year.

The Board wish to record their appreciation for all of the hard work put in by this years Premier League Coach, Steve Georgallis and wish him well for the future.

On Saturday 1 October 2005 WSDRLFC conducted trials for Harold Matthews, SG Ball and Jersey Flegg at Campbelltown Sports Stadium. The trials were well attended, giving our juniors the opportunity to show case their talents. In excess of 350 young men attended on the day. The selections will be on the Wests Magpies website after the 10 October 2005. Those who attended the trial were provided with a letter setting out the selection process for the various squads.

Wests Magpies entered a relay team which competed on grand final day last Sunday. The team, which consisted of Chris Moustakis (coach) Craig Moustakis, Chris Luxman, Ratu Peni, Grant Lahey, Simon Troy and Michael Phillips won the final against strong opposition. The Shield is on display in the Wests Magpies office.

He wasnt re-appointed. He applied and John got the job. Why would the maggies stick with Georgallis with his track record over the last two years. The maggies won three games this year. Bloody good move by the magpies.
