Magpies still playing in the NRL/PL

Im just wondering which players in the NRL and PL
- were once Magpies or Magpie juniors
- or have played first grade for the Wests Tigers and are still with them.

The following is all I can think of :

I don't think the Minicello's ever actually played in Wests Junior Reps. They are from our junior league though - same as the Paea's and Hoppa.

Reece Simmons is a Magpie Junior (I think he had his First Grade debut with us)
De Vere played reserves
Eric Grothe is a Magpie Junior (Preso Cup I think?)
Alex Chan played for us many years ago as a centre!
Kearney was in the Mescia led U/21 premiership side and Captained NZ whilst he was still sith us.
Mears was a Magpie junior that went to the Roosters
Bajouri
Nathan Hollingsworth skippered us in 2000 in First Div
Withers played a season with us before going to Balmain
Steve Crouch - plenty bagged but always great for us
Can't think of any others

Bah - if you magpies can claim withers as a junior than balmain get villa - both are canberra products ;-)

didn't claim him as a junior. gr8_1 asked for players that were juniors or once played for the Magpies. Chan, Holli, Withers and Crouch qualify on this criteria.

You can claim Villa all you want darling. (He's as goooorne as De Vere is for us) ;-)

I can't remember what Heckenberg's status is. He was at St Gregs but I can't remember if he was ever in our junior reps. He went to the Dragons straight from school.

In the theoretical stakes we'd have a reasonable side, but we'd be pushing it up hill in the halves. Haven't had one of them come through in the longest time.

When was Brent Webb with us? Don't remember him at all.

Remembered one other though:

Ben McDougall was with us as a youngster. His Dad Gil was a Magpie great in the 60's. See if you can guess why he was shown the door. :roll:

Lipina? well who knows. He needs very hands on treatment and a very simple job to do. Maybe in the back row he could turned into something, but it would simply take too much work.

Just play him in 15 minute bursts - head down and legs pumping - could really improve our yardage game!

I'm surprised we haven't seen him in First Grade over the last two years frankly. He doesn't do a lot - but what he does he does well. You can rely on him to go forward hard and not make many errors, and also to crunch anyone fool enough to run at him head on. Sounds like a good thing in short bursts to me.

Add him to my Magpie side in place of Patto.

I didn't say Brent Webb, I said Stuart Webb. Currently plays for the Roosters. You can also add Frank Pritchard, Adrian Rainey, Brett O'Farrell and John Olzard

Hill is currently playing for Port Kembla in the Illawarra league (Tooheys League) and you're correct, he is an Illawarra product.

Yeah good handy player who has come on well. See what just one year at the Magpies can do for you.

On Pritchard, I know he's a relative of Abraham, but did he ever play in black and white? I'll add him to my bench if the answers yes.

There would be plenty of ex Magpies in the ranks of the Premier League, but most like Needles Rainey will remain there.

Might be struggling for some otside backs though. (and don't go putting in anyone who hasn't actually played for Balmain ie Satts or Prince)

yeah Backs and halves both would be a problem

I guess we could claim linc as well and theres always meggsie (and field I guess) but as far as backs go - probably the pick of the bunch is michael withers?
