Make City Country a U20's Match

The NRL should make the city country match be selected from the U20's competition because it has no value in its current format, by making it a U20's game you would actually get to see the future NSW stars playing a proper rep fixture together.

Generally whenever someone comes up with a random idea like this I get a good laugh out of them, but this one actually has some merit.

Opens as in non-NRL CVC players?
I think that would be a truer representation of City v Country. Group ## CRL players vs NSW Bunderberg Cup City players.

Yeah under 20s would be great....we would see an nailbiting match that ends up 46-44 with 9 tries to each side

This would be better then the current game. And it would give these guys a bit more exposure.

Yeh well i just meant keep the normal CvC match, the NSW players in contention for NSW side, and have the under 20s match

I haven't really dwelled on this idea yet but at a glance it seems a great idea. Give some exposure to the good young guys coming through. Play it before teh test even.

The more I think, the more I like.

Nah preseason, same weekend as the all stars match I reckon, have it as a real gala weekend for mine.
Yes.

It serves no purpose as a representative selection trial any more. Professional players have every week of the season in the toughest club comp in the world to prove their worth. Move it to the pre-season and leave it out in the country every year where it can do the game just as much good without forcing star players to play twice in 24 or 48 hours mid season.

Leigh.

Not interested. The U20's standard is very weak and no one is going to watch a game which involves players they've never heard of. A waste of time and money as a stand alone event.

The usefullness of the City v Country match died out years ago. Why they keep on playing the game is beyond me and most sensible league supporters.

For the millionth and I hope the last time, get rid of it.

i dont see the point in removing it, i enjoy watching the test and CvC matches of a friday night this time of year. Yeh players may be a little tired backing up from the game, but its a good exhibition match, not massive but still good quality. Also gives countries towns a chance to host a NRL quality match

Well it would certainly guarantee that nobody would watch

Agreed, why would anyone in Port Macquarie go out and watch players they dont know??? They may as go and watch players they dont know for the Port Macquarie Sharks JRL for free....

The people in Port Mac are going out to watch Hayne, Carney, Farrah, Bird etc...
