Malta have defeated Switzerland 17-8 in Avusy.

Two tries to one has seen Malta take a huge step to qualification from their group

Nick Warren and Charles Van Moll were the try scoring heroes with Rohan Spiteri proving to be a more than able goalkicker with a penalty and conversion.

Malta are one of the most improved teams in world rugby, mostly though their pro-active governing body and some very smart recruitment.

To gain a better understanding of the stature of International Rugby, I suggest a visit to Planet Rugby's web site. Click on international fixtures and results and marvel at the november internationals involving some 60+ countries.

Exotic Rugby locations such as Namibia, Sweeden, Germany, Poland, Kakastan, Russia, Thailand are prominent.

Play Rugby and see the world has never been a truer slogan.

Love the game, the excitement, the skill and courage. The best is the simplest way to describe RUGBY.

CHEERS.

And to how many of these countries have Australia recently travelled to and played?

I remember Mat Rogers' quote when he signed with union - "I want to see the world". Well done Mat, you can stamp Johannesburg and Glasgow to your passport. Whoppie whoppie wuck.

'What an exciting penalty goal'
'What a skillful penalty goal'
'What a courageous penalty goal'

What is courageous about beating Namibia 134-nil or whatever it was?

Wallabies are playing a test in Tokyo next year, but with the way Rogers is going, he probably won't be there.

The saying "play rugby and see the world" is a reference to the opportunity for players of all levels to travel the globe playing RUGBY. There is a team for everyone in most countries. It is irrelavent where one individual has played. #-o

Why are league people so defensive about the lack of places they can ply their trade?

Attacking RUGBY for being global will not add one extra town to the league map.

Translation never have so many expats Brits,South Africans,Kiwis and Australians played union in so many countries, in the guise of citizens of so many countries, with little or no recognition from the vast majority of the citizens of those countries, who couldnt give a rats or even know the code exists.
Yes the Yanks enjoyed the skill, courage and excitement at the Tomahawks V Kangaroos rugby match in Philadelphia, just as the good citizens of Moscow will in the 2006 junior rugby league world cup.
These days exotic locations Namibia  are accessible to many due to cheap airfares, and you dont have to play rugby to experience it.
Planet rugby

So scoring a try is the only thing that makes a game exciting? Welcome to the 21st century fast fix gratification market!

If penalty goals turn you on,wecome to the world of mediocrity.
According to my schoolboy union days, the game was supposedly about scoring tries, players enjoy scoring tries and the public enjoy tries being scored.Penalty goals were a nasty, necessary and uninteresting intrusion.

Getting the try is just the end of the play there is the build up to it that is part of the enjoyment in union and league.
