Man charged over Hookes assault
The man arrested over an attack on former Test cricketer David Hookes was released on bail after appearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court.
Zdravco Micevic was charged with one count of assault.
Police did not oppose bail.
Magistrate Peter Couzens granted Micevic bail on condition that he report to Keilor Downs Police Station three times a week, reside at a St Albans address, surrender his passport, and accept no work as a crowd controller or visit any licensed premises.
He was remanded to appear for a committal mention on April 13.
Hookes "technically died" and was revived by ambulance paramedics after being assaulted outside the Beaconsfield Hotel in St Kilda in Melbourne's inner city at 11.45pm Sunday.
The Bushrangers coach was taken to the Alfred Hospital with serious head injuries and was in a coma.
