a post from MSE

1. Jamie Lyon: Centre or 5/8 2009?
2. Chris Bailey: 5/8, Lock, Utility or Bench Backrower 2009?
3. Tony Williams: Starting backrower, winger, NYC or centre 2009?
4. Michael Bani: 1st grade or reserve grade 2009?
5. Heath Le'Strange: 1st grade or reserve grade given above 2009?
6. Glenn Hall: Starting backrower or Bench Backrower 2009?

1. 5/8 definitely , he will only get better
2.
Maybe he is lucky he was bought when he was before Lyon stepped up to show he can play pivot
3.
I don't think Crusher or Des wanted him to come to Manly for him to play in Qld
4.
Sorry Mick, if injury strikes you can have your spot back,
5.
his interchange with Matt Balin was why we went so well
6.(proved to all he desrves to keep his spot)

Grand final team

01. Brett Stewart
02. Michael Robertson
03. Steve Matai
04. Steven Bell (gone)
05. David Williams
06. Jamie Lyon
07. Matt Orford
08. Brent Kite
09. Matt Ballin
10. Josh Perry
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Glenn Hall
13. Glenn Stewart

14. Heath L'Estrange
15. Mark Bryant (gone)
16. Jason King
17. Steve Menzies (gone)

the way I see it we have 3 players from the Grand final team gone so they need to be replaced

Cuthbo deserves and will fill 1 spot

players we purchased
Tony Williams
Chris Bailey
Shane Rodney
Trent Hodginskin

and other options
Jared Wearra-Hargreaves (could be a huge Bolter I think)
Vic Mauro
Mick Bani
Shane Neumann

so

01. Brett Stewart
02. Michael Robertson
03. Steve Matai
04. Tony Williams
05. David Williams
06. Jamie Lyon
07. Matt Orford
08. Josh Perry
09. Matt Ballin
10. Brent Kite
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Glenn Hall
13. Glenn Stewart

14. Heath L'Estrange
15. Adam Cuthbertson
16. Jason King
17. Jared Wearra-Hargreaves ( I reckon the kid will be ready)

Chris Baily & Shane Rodney will have to fight to get into the team I think
Vic Mauro, Mick Bani, Shane Neumann, George Rose will be thereabouts if injury hits

Oh and Trent Hogkinson and Keiren Foran just in case Ox goes down

thats my spin on 09

I think we will take it again next year or come very close to doing so. Melbourne are weakened, all the other teams are inexperienced compared to Manly.

Haven't been this pumped for a new footy season in ages.

Nice team there Gong, i am not sold on Tony Williams in the centres, i would like to see Wolfman get a crack there first.

I really hope Rodney, Bailey and to a lesser extent Williams dont get in the way of JWH's progress, cause i think the kid will be something special. Kenny Edwards looks like a damn good player as well.
We certainly have massive depth in the 2nd row, which we will need when Choc and Stewy are in the NSW team.

I think it is good we signed bailey and rodney and others who maybe wont make the squad at full strenght because we'll be destroyed by origin. Its the way it goes, when a team starts winning they get tons in rep games, like the roosters and storm, although it didnt really happen for the tigers.

I think wolfman, lyon (if he chooses to play), watmough, stewart, stewart, kite, and perry are certainties to play barring injury, and I can see a few others possibly making it, like orford (but I doubt it, he would have played this year if he was ever going to), ballin on the bench for queensland, robertson if there are injuries to the backline for the blues. The depth will be badly needed. Imagine if all these played rep footy, what would we look like?

Bani
Nick-Bradley
Matai

Bailey
foran
King
lestrange
Cuthbo
Glenn Hall
Hargreaves
Rodney

Hodgjkinson
Mauro
Rose
?

not as bad as the storms team looked this year IMO, but would still have no chance.

Similar to Big Mick's, just a couple of changes in the bench and back row.

1. Brett Stewart
2. Michael Robertson
3. Steve Matai
4. Jamie Lyon
5. David Williams
6. Chris Bailey
7. Matt Orford
8. Brent Kite
9. Matt Ballin
10. Josh Perry
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Glenn Hall
13. Glenn Stewart

14. Heath L'Estrange
15. Adam Cuthbertson
16. Jason King
17. Tony Williams

And then we have Rodney, Bani, Rose, Mauro, JWH and Neumann all in the wings.

When Origin comes around, both Stewies, Williams, Kite and Perry are a good chance of selection (not sure about Watmough yet), so the team during Origin could be:

1. Michael Bani (should have him playing fullback for the Sunshine Coast IMO)
2. Michael Robertson
3. Steve Matai
4. Jamie Lyon
5. NBQ/Tony Williams/Shane Neumann
6. Chris Bailey
7. Matt Orford
8. Jason King
9. Matt Ballin
10. Adam Cuthbertson
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Glenn Hall
13. Shane Rodney

14. Heath L'Estrange
15. George Rose
16. Vic Mauro
17. Tony Williams/JWH (if Williams plays wing)

Plenty of depth there.

Guys,

Nick-Bradley Qalilawa has retired. A same, probably could play first grade elsewhere but is stuck in a pretty good Manly team.

I am not sold on Chris Bailey, so for mine, Jamie to stay at the pivot. Give Mick Bani a crack in the centres....he is a great prospect.
