Manly boss tips Sharks

Found it interesting Peter Peters on 2KY this morning predicting the Sharks to make the top four.

They had been talking about the prospects of several teams, gains and losses etc when a caller rang and asked his opinion of the Sharks.

"They're my sleeper team" he said, "They're my dark horse team to really surprise this year". "Kimmorley and Dykes will have a great season."

A couple of callers after that enquired of Manlys off season progress, and what if anything Terry Hill will be doing.....but he didnt seem to want to make any bold predictions of Manlys season ahead.

I know hes entitled to his opinion, though its usually wrong or biased....just seemed odd him talking up the Sharks chance....maybe he was trying to sound like a neutral commentator....it doesnt workwith him.

Sharks  Who else did he have? Tigers, Canberra and Souths? I think he got the top and bottom four mixed up.

I think if Kimmorley is injury free & the rest of the Sharks team they can make the 8, but certainly not the top 4. I can't see them being a superior team to Bulldogs, Roosters, Brisbane, Penrith, or Dragons next year

If Kimmorley and Dykes fire and remain uninjured they will make the 4.

I see this as very very unlikely though. Top 8 is the best they can do for mine.

with dykes playing his natural spot at 5/8th with a real halfback, we will fire

That may be wishful thinking. There are a lot of great halves combination.
Anasta-Sherwin
Barrett-Head
Hill-Orford
Campbell-Gower

There's even halves combinations where there is only one star player, but will be better than Sharks
Lockyer-Seymour
Firman-Finch

some more combinations:

Fien/Jones
Gidley/Johns
marshall/prince(need to improve kicking game- they got none)

good halves wont turn the team around on its own. they have a weak forward pack compared to many other sides & their backline is lacking any real quality- the sharks will miss the 8.

I bet Vagana was considered quality when he was at the dogs?

Maybe because he didn't suck at the Dogs like he did in 2004?

The Sharks can beat anyone on their day but there's no way they'll have the consistency to make the top 4.

Oh and Peter Peters is a worthless piece of crap, so please don't dignify his quotes with threads anymore

I rated Vagana as over-rated when he was with Dogs. He scored tries but he didn't have to do much. I remember that time he scored 5 tries, he didn't have to run more than 10 metres for any of them

The thing I dislike about him is the pronounciation of his surname. You say it; Van-ga-na, when it's spelt Vagana :-k
