Manly playmaker Luke Dorn has been told to look for another club next season, even though he has another year left to run on his contract.

Dorn, considered one of the Sea Eagles' rising stars, received the shock news this week after the club signed Cronulla five-eighth Jye Mullane.

With Canberra's Michael Monaghan and Welsh international Mark Lennon also joining Manly next season, new coach Des Hasler has a number of other options in the halves.

Dorn's manager, Peter Lord, confirmed yesterday that the 20-year-old former Australian schoolboy representative was on the market, but said there was a possibility he would remain at Brookvale next season.

"Luke has been told that he's free to talk to other clubs, but he has still got a contract with Manly," Lord said.

Since making his NRL debut early last year, Dorn has been a key player for the Sea Eagles.

Following veteran halfback Jason Ferris's departure for Widnes, it was widely assumed that Dorn, Ben Walker and Monaghan would share the playmaking duties next season. But there are also doubts about Walker's future after he underwent knee surgery this week.

With Hasler taking over the coaching duties from Peter Sharp, the Sea Eagles are undergoing a rebuilding phase.

Former international Noel Cleal has joined Hasler's staff from Parramatta in the position of recruitment manager, and Manly are so far believed to have signed 14 new players for next season.

Among them are six Eels, including prop Daniel Heckenberg, utility Shayne Dunley, hooker Nathan Hollingsworth and Cleal's son, Kane.

Former Wallaby Andrew Walker is the club's biggest name signing, and Manly rugby union players Jarrod Heaney and John Payne - a member of Tonga's World Cup squad - have also been linked to the Sea Eagles.

Parramatta fullback Ronald Prince was widely tipped to follow Cleal to Manly but he re-signed with the Eels yesterday for another season.

Newcastle winger Justin Ryder, another player linked to the Sea Eagles, is negotiating with Wakefield, who last week signed David Solomona from Parramatta.

Manly back-rower Mark Shipway is understood to be heading to Salford, while centre Ben MacDougall is talking to clubs in both England and Australia.

I'm sorry to see Shipway go....he didn't get much of a chance this season with all the injuries he copped! I reckon Dorn will stick around for another season!
