Manly's Matai not guilty of assault

Thursday, January 25, 2007 - 3:47 PM

An assault charge against Manly rugby league player Steve Matai has been dismissed by a Sydney magistrate.
Matai, 22, had been accused of assaulting 31-year-old Mona Vale man Joseph Nasser at the Surf Rock Hotel at Collaroy on Sydney's northern beaches on June 10.
Matai was cleared of headbutting Mr Nasser after pleading not guilty to the assault charge in Downing Centre Local Court.

great news, Steve didn't seem like someone that would attack unprovoked when I sorta met him at Brookie last year. Can we get back to preparing for the first trial game?
