True or False?

If Marcus North had never been selected for Australia, most of the good judges on here would have thought it a massive injustice.

He's been beaten from pillar to post on here for the last year, but I just wanted to acknowledge that he truly is an exceptional cricketer.

True. I can man up and say if he hadn't have being selected I would have being just a little upset. I'm sure a lot of us would have being the same. And we are a very fickle crowd. Having said that though, he should have being dropped much, much earlier. Some players are great clubman but just aren't up to Test standard. Nothing to be ashamed of though. He's played Test cricket and we haven't.

North is a very, very good player...but I think he was picked on the downswing of his career. Had he been picked earlier we might be talking about him very differently. I, for one, never had a bad word to say about him as a player...it's not his fault the selectors didn't realise he'd lost the touch and drop him.

Defintely deserved his chance in the baggy green, but he did not take it. Deserved to be called up and deserved to be dropped.

Agree although in hindsight maybe we should have gone Dussey at the time.

Very good Sheild player, average and inconsistent test player. Still he played more test's than Bevan,Love,Law,hodge,Siddons,Maher so really he should count his blessings. 10 years ago he wouldn't have rated a mention as a test player. Shows how far we have slipped.

Deserved a shot, but really hadnt ever been an outstanding first class player. Average similar to that of Domenic Thornley.

You cant just expect good to average first class players are suddenly going to be outstanding test cricketers (which is why calls for a player like Sean Marsh baffle me).

If he was abit mentally tougher especially when the chips are down he could've been a champion but he just can't seem to respond when under pressure even at state level. Of he had played in those dominant sides we had in the early 2000's he probably would have been held in alot higher regard

fail

the bloke had an ok domestic record, nothing special

Dave hussey (55.27) averages more than 13 runs per dig more than North, Brad Hodge wasnt given a fair crack imo. Theses 2 guys deserved norths 21 tests

Scored half a dozen test match centuries, so he was obviously a very good batsman. Couldn't do it when the chips were down though, which was his biggest problem.

But his replacement smith is probably worse

I agree on this.

Whilst North shouldve been dropped, I dont think Smith shouldve been picked as a lower order batsman.

If anything Smith shouldve been picked as the spinner, if he was to be picked.

North shouldve been replaced with a batsman.
