Our home game too. It’s a throwback to when we used Parra Stadium for a season while the SFS was being built before shifting our games to Henson. Luckily our form is better this round.

Unfortunately, I was a bit young to remember or take notice of what was happening at around that time (1987 wasn't it?). Thanks for that, I didn't realise we played at Parra. I thought we went straight to Henson Park. The stadium would have been a shiny new location for us, as it would have only been built the year prior, correct? Yes, we were pretty ordinary in the mid 1980's - the period I started following the Roosters - nobody could ever accuse me of getting on the bandwagon!

Yes, Henson 87. 86 at Parra. Someone might remember the story better than me but the week leading up to us playing Parra at Parra, Ray Price made some remark about Easts being the club that should relocate or something like that. The game was listed as our home game so Easts made Parra move into the visitors sheds, something they’d never done in their home ground before. Price was not amused.

I think the game will come down to the coaches. Simple as that. BA seems to be hard as nails with his players and all the pressure absolutely will be on the Eels. I'm thinking they will overplay things and we'll roll on, win and treat it like it's just another game.

Not sure whether the match where Easts made Parra use the visitors dressing room was 1986 or 1987( think it might have been 1986). Easts actually only played 3 homes games at Parramatta in 1986 against Balmain, Parramatta and Illawarra, in 1987 Easts played their first game at Henson against Illawarra then played the next 2 home games at Parramatta against Penrith and then Parramatta before switching back to Henson for the rest of the season.
In 1986 East also played a home game against West at Campbelltown , think it was Kevin Hastings 200th game then.

I was hoping you’d join in, you’re much better on detail. I wasn’t imagining the dressing switch though, was I? Memory is vague but I think it was a Sunday arvo game and they creamed us as most teams did that year.

No you weren't imagining it, I'm almost certain it was 1986, the game where Easts were the home team was a close one, Parra won 14-12 but Parras home game that year Parra ripped us apart 32-0, Eric Grothe scored a runaway try and threw off a Laurie Spina attempted tackle like a rag doll.
In 1987 when it was Easts home game there East won 28-16, Grothe had a shocker that day, when it was Parras home game later in the season they lapped us 32-2, that was the week before East had a huge form turnaround and beat Manly 26-16 at Henson ending a 13 game winning streak from the Eagles.
There was another incident at Parramatta one day, not sure what year it was but Parra lapped us and Arthur Beetson was our coach, when Parra scored another try the ground announcer said have another pie Mr Beetson, Parra were swift to react though and they sacked the ground announcer straight after that.

I was always under the assumption the “pie” call happened at Cronulla. Well, there you go.

A great tidbit of history regardless.

Its funny, i had forgotten that Artie coached Cronulla. I do remember though that the pie comment came from a Parramatta ground announcer and the Parra officials weren't happy about it because of the good service Artie had given to Parramatta when he played there.

Thank you for the history lessons @horrie hastings and @Babyface O'reilly, that is all interesting. I take it that the contributor that has the 'Artie's Pie' alias on the Chookpen is to do with this then!

Anyway, it should be a cracker tonight. Like Big Kev used to say, I'm excited!

Lindsay is out, but Jared is back. Five days prep is not ideal, but we should be right. Go the mighty Roosters.
