I posted this on the Roosters forum on Friday. I've been meaning to post it here
It's written from a Roosters fan perspective.
------------------------------
I went down for the evening.
The Premier League result was 24-all, as has been stated, with the Dragons scoring an extra try, but being let down by poor goal kicking.
Firstly, there was no Glenn Hall 60 metre try. He made a break from the kick off, and then won a penalty after being held down, then we scored. Hall had a strong game, hitting the ball up hard all night.
Soward and Lewis played strongly, although not brilliantly. They won numerous repeat sets for us on the back of clever grubbers. There was a clear lack of cohesion though, I thought, which is to be expected seeing that it's the first game they've played together. Soward was barking orders all night and his defense wasn't an issue at all.
The first Jets try came from some Soward excellence. He chipped ahead on about the 40 metre line for Lewis running through, but the ball bounced wickedly. Another Jets player regathered, before passing to Soward, who ran around a couple of Dragons and passed to the winger, who scored in the corner.
John Doyle came off the bench, and played mainly as hooker. He did a few good things, but also came up with a few errors and bad decisions in attack. He also seemed quite slow, and lacking in match fitness.
Sam Perrett had one of the best games I've seen from him playing in the centres. He made a few strong line breaks and ran the ball hard all night, running straight for once.
Heath L'Estrange played, and played well. Danny Williams and Grant Millington were both promoted. Danny Williams unfortunately just seems too small to me to become a first grade forward.
There were a few Newtown players on show, like Vial and Le Breton, who I don't think will be donning the Roosters colours any time soon.
