I think Widdop and Sims have done very well for us and I thought they were great signings when we got them. Also, I always thought Sims was wasted as a middle player. Not so enthusiastic about Dugan.

We needed a quality half back and Hunt is a huge step up but I have never been as enthusiastic as some about his signing. I have always been wait and see.

Jak is right. Opinions are like a/holes - we all have one.

Hunt hasn't improved.
Dugan didn't improve.
Widdop in my opinion was always an excellent footballer.
Sims, as I said, shouldn't have been played in the middle even if they needed a middle player. He certainly realised a good portion of his potential this year. Doubt much, if any of that was due coaching.

Simple as that.

Don't need to turn this into another Mary bashing thread. There's plenty of those.

They end up there because some people continue to defend him through thick & thin.
Every time a good facet about a player is discussed the pro Mc Fookknuckites try to attribute it to his coaching.
The reality is we would have a more potent side with just about anyone else coaching our club and all players would have a better skill set.

You're right Drag. The negativity is astounding. I don't usually get involved in this sort of conversation. And don't usually speak with him because of the negativity and people can't have a reasonable conversation with him as it always turns into an 'I know best' slanging match.
