The reports on Matt Gidleys shoulder suggest he needs a re-construction, which would mean if he has it now he may just be fit for 2004, he is thinking of putting it off till after the Kangaroo Tour, which means he's unavailable for the Knights 2004 opening games. Should he go on the tour, or get his shoulder fixed?

Last night I heard he will be out either way... If he has the surugry or not, he won't be playing.
If I was him I would have the surgury.

Also we wont find out for a couple of weeks whether Hughsey and Joey will need their ops.

Robbie also broke his thumb again and didn't know about it.

The only one that came through with shinning colours is Danny.

Looks like Gids may have surgery AND play. Not sure how the timing on those two things would work!

From the SMH website:
"Elsewhere, Newcastle centre Matt Gidley was advised yesterday to undergo a shoulder reconstruction - but he still hopes to tour with the Kangaroos.

An appointment with surgeon Neil Halpin on Friday will decide Gidley's fate. Fellow centres Jamie Lyon, Shaun Timmins and Brent Tate have already been ruled out of Australia's trip to France, Wales and England."

My preference would be for Gidley to have the operation and be fully fit and functioning for our Premiership attack next year.

I'm supposing that with his age this could be his last chance at an Ashes tour?

Does anyone know how long he has been carrying this injury?

I think he will have more oportunities to go on tours... his only 26.

His had the injury for a couple of weeks I think.

i think that he picked up the shoulder injury against the raiders.

he went off mid-way through the second half of the match.
