The Daily Telegraph said:
Halfback Matt Orford has been granted permission to negotiate with rival clubs before the NRL's anti-tampering deadline expires on June 30.

Up to 10 NRL clubs are expected to show interest in Orford's services and with Scott Hill, Cameron Smith and Billy Slater having already committed to the club for the next three seasons, Orford is considered the missing piece of the puzzle. "Matt is a very important part of our team and that's why we are desperate to get a deal finalised," said coach Craig Bellamy.

I sure hope he re-signs for Storm!

I wasn't too impressed with his interview in this week's Rugby League Week.

Pretty uninspiring stuff. :|

It's the Noddy saga all over again, I hope he stays but who knows. Lets get it over with soon and I hope it will not affect the performance of the Storm like Noddy did.

I thought Orford was 70/30 chance of staying before reading that article.
Now I think its 70/30 chance he's leaving.

What's the bet he'll take leave from training to go to Townsville, Bondi, Brookvale and god knows where else. Orford should see what happened to Noddy, take the hint and stay at Melbourne.

My fear is that he has already made up his mind.

Any time you read something about him he is quoted as saying something about being concerned about Storm being in Melbourne long term.

I get the feeling that that is being to be set up as the excuse why he wont sign.

GOD I HOPE I WRONG ON THIS

Rumours have been rife that he hasn't been happy since Peter Sharp ( the person who dropped him and brought in Noddy to the Central Coast ) was appointed and sometimes his play reflects that.

In my opinion he hasn't jelled with Scott Hill - he played better with Geyer as 5/8th but moving Hill and Geyer is not the answer - it would just cater to an ego.

I think we need to move on - OX is very good individual player (personally I prefer him over Noddy) but if he is going to be SO EXPENSIVE we can't afford to keed talent - then lets just say thanks OX for the past 4 years - and let us get some new talent moving in.

When Swain left I cried foul - but who is better Smith or Swain? We may say the same about Orford and whoever.

I can guarrantee that Bellamy has a replacement in mind already and want OX to make up his mind so things can move on.

Football, you win some battles, you lose some battles, but don't let your battle strategy dictate how you win the war.

On the positive side is that no one thought Hilly would re-sign last year and he signed a 5 year deal.

Let's just wait and see.

If he doesnt want to stay, let him go, if he is going to play for us, his heart must be in it.

Maybe he is also concerned that playing for us has hurt his NSW and Australian rep chances      #-o :(

If Orford decides to go, Cam Smith can play halfback with Friend to Hooker. Or Cooper Cronk could play halfback. He's been awesome in the games he's played.

Personally, I thin he needs to make up his mind and quickly. This whole situation is pathetic. Think about it, we had Kimmorley for 3 years then he nicked off. Why? More money? Then we get Orford and I think he really only came into his own in 2003. Suddenly he's hot property and if he leaves it will be for money as well. If the cycle repeats where we have to get a new half-back every three years then Storm will never be succesful.

If Brisbane sign Orford they'll have no room for Lockyer under the cap.

6. Lockyer
7. Cronk/Turner
13. Hill

:D :D
