This guy is off contract from the Dragons at the end of the season and with Firman also at the Dragons, it looks as though he will be moving on.

Would you sign him if the chance arose?

It would be interesting to see:

6: Prince
7. Head
----------
14. Marshall

Thoughts?

As someone that watches more Dragons games than Wests games, i will do a triple backflip if the Dragons let him go if he continues to play this type of football. They are more likely of releasing Firman and paying part of his contract than letting Head get away.

Gimme Head anytime.... I love Head..... Head is sensational.....

So I take it that you think he would be a sensational buy for the Tigers?

The only thing I wouldnt like is benching Marshall, but he is still only 19.

As long as he was signed to Balmain for PL games it would be a great buy. As a half, i can only place Joey, Orford, Kimmorley, Sherwin & Gower above him and from a kicking perspective only Joey and Sherwin can match him. He would be the buy of the season at $150k next year.

In relation to Benji, i think he needs to be developed as a centre that gets to see plenty of ball, he has the skill, but at 19 it may be better to have less pressure on him...... Freddy and Daley both started as centres.

The problem with him at centre is that he hardly ever touched the ball.

Someone with pace and flair like he has needs to see alot of the ball, which is what he gets now. His passing game is also great - another five-eighth aspect.

In regards to Head, I think his kicking game is exactly what we need. Do all we can to get him, throw some bucketloads of cash at Ashton Sims and grab Carl Webb for a relatively cheap price and we will be in business.

In a good team, an inside centre should see alot of ball. The pressure of playing 5/8 is i suppose dependant on the support of the halfback. Only an exceptional 5/8 can prosper without a great half. Give him two seasons as staring inside centre, then move him to 5/8 if there is not a better alternative.

I dont think we need to go for head. The Prince/Marshall combo seems to be taking shape very nicely at the moment. And with blokes like Kerr and Branighan in PL as back up id say we're well covered for specialist halves.Even in a worst case scenario we have Fitzy.

Why would you have Benji at centre??When this has been tried and all to no avail. it is more than obvious that he needs to be closer to the action and anyone who thinks otherwise is in need of a neurological assessment.

So given the bloke too much to do when he is starting out in the game? Sink or Swin comes to mind? no doubt he is a 5/8, however as i said before putting too much pressure on him might have the opposite effective of what you want him to achieve.

I cant see us moving for him. He was considered last season before we signed Prince and with Marshall having the benefit of a season under his belt by next season , no need really, let the others fight for him. oH and one word...roosters.

If you note his on field character,he is a person who likes to be constantly involved. As this is evident in the amount of times he does the same thing.

For example his step that he always does, is being used to frequently to the point where it loses it's impact but that's the sort of person he is.
So by leaving him out wide catching a cold in the centres is of no use to him or the team.I once thought that he should be slowly eased into the 5/8 roll. But as they say"if his good enough his old enough" and boy his good enough allright!!

I guess looking at where we are with the halves does bring up alot to talk about - Prince and Benji arn't really halves they are more 5/8s

But in saying that Prince has to be named in the side and if we have any chance at keeping Benji with the club well he will have to be included in the starting side as well!

But in saying that we do need a proper half to show some form of direction but what do we do???

See we would be stupid if we didn't go after Orford or Head to be honest but in saying that what then happens to a player like Prince or Benji who misses out on starting ????

The more and more I think about with Kerr, Roberts, Braumann, Brannigan, Reynolds, Nash, Caldwell and Borg to name a few coming through the ranks sure we might not have an imediate soloution but long term things do look very positive if we can keep at least half of those interested in staying at the club!

I think this year more than any year for a change it will be great to think that we have some great talent and depth coming through the ranks that will next year and beyond make a difference in the Wests Tigers chances of making the next giant step!

Max,

Interesting we have gone a least one post without calling each other a wanker

Anyway, my theory is that he does not have the total skills on a great 5/8 yet and put him at inside centre may be a way of giving him a little less pressure, he can always slot between the two as he develops anyway.

On the other hand, you will have seen a hell of a lot more of him than i have.
