What is this guy's beef with us? Is it as simple as a vendetta against us because he had a peep at an all-in down in Chch? Not likely he is bitter because Jerome busted his brother's career towards the end? What is it?

No reasoned or reasonable man would say all this tripe: http://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/ro...xpensive-mistake/story-fndv38w0-1227297302459

My favourite is the part where he reckons RTS should've turned down 800k because 2-3 years more at the back for the Roosters would've made him worth 1.3m. Which is a price that exactly no NRL player is paid, or is likely to be paid for the next 10-20 years until the TV deal includes 4D coverage (whatever 4D is)

I live in the convict isles and refuse to watch this twat..which unfortunately was like the old days where I refused to watch McIvor and the Stray Dawg - ie all the mid-week shows are pretty much out. Thank god for Sterlo.

The article shows a picture of Mateo and Inu who 'wasted their potential at the Warriors'. Hang on a minute, they'd just played a grand final!

He cites Inu? FS, the guy was inconsistent at Parramatta, inconsistent for us, inconsistent at the dogs. All the talent in the world, only played when he was interested, no matter who he was playing under. Mateo had a similar rep. And Tomkins has put in, any failures there have just been down the the limits of his own ability more than anything.

yeh, some one at SMH wrote that article. Just a couple of quotes from Johns.
Whats this round 13 bs about?
Is this just a letter of intent that RTS has signed? So he is free to renege anytime from now till June 30?

Nothing locked in until June 30, I think - Roosters will do their best to reverse this

I don't agree with everything, but there is a concerning validity (or at least potential) to some of what he says. I think every club has players arrive with hype and they don't kick on for whatever reason. But I can't help but feel that perhaps RTS would have been better off staying in the Roosters' system for a while.

But as a Warriors fan, great to have him heading this way.

on the field I am certain that he's better off at the Roosters. Off the field, for family and financial reasons I expect Auckland wins

Inu and Mateo were shit that's why they didn't reach their potential.

Actually Inu and Mateo were very good for us under Cleary.
Nobody knows why we cast out Inu but Mateo eventually stopped caring and turned into plod.

Johns' argument about not taking the Warriors contract being financially advantageous for RTS is dribble.

Inu and Mateo's careers were both spiralling when they came to the Warriors IIRC

For the most part I avoid celebrity sports punditry. It's usually fanciful ego-driven nonsense and I prefer to just watch the game and leave it at that.

That's the main part of the dribble for me as well. To say that is just flat out proving he has an agenda against us, because it's absolutely laughable. No one earns 1.3m. And if you're 21, and someone offers you 800k a year for 3 years to live in your home city - a place where presumably friends, family and others already are? Holy hell, who turns that down. I'm sure Johns would jabber on about financial security and NRL careers being one injury away from curtailing if it was a side he liked.

And as someone else said, Inu and Mateo had very good, consistent stretches with us. To be fair, Johns didn't mention them, it was the article.

In other news, the June 30 deadline is BS. What was it originally brought in for? Now all it creates is a culture where fans are wary of getting excited, because the player could backflip under pressure from team-mates, club etc.

The June 30 deadline has always existed. It used to be that nobody could be signed until June 30 so instead everyone just did dodgy dealings in the backrooms instead. So the NRL just said "f**k it, open slather" but they still don't register those contracts until June 30.

If a player extends with his current club then it's just an extension of their current contract (with terms changed of course) so that trumps any contract they may have signed in the meantime. It means RTS can't go and sign with Manly, Eels, Titans etc blah blah, but he can still sign with the Roosters and void our signing up until June 30.

I still remember when we "signed" PJ Marsh, think it was 8am the day after June 30. Yeah no backroom deals there.
