Following up from my "Parra - new centre signing" post yesterday,
a friend who works in administration at the leagues club just informed me that we agreed with Matt on a 1 year contract (Must have come out of our second tier).

Funnily enough, this bloke went to Parramatta Marist Brothers high school for two years. My mate up in QLD was saying that Matt played in the same High School side as Chad Robinson and Jason Cayless(Must have been a bloody good rugby league school). He also played Harold Matthews for Parra. He copped a bad leg injury playing Flegg for St George and had to have a knee reconstuction back in 99. It took him a long time to get back on his feet but he's been playing for Ipswich for the last two years and is highly regarded.

The bloke has 13 tries to his name this year from 18 matches so that's a fair strike rate. Aapparently he may need to shed some kilos as his peak playing weight is around 85 kilos.

I'm looking forward to seeing this Matt play. Obviously he'll start out in Reggies but its always good seeing someone breakthrough into First grade and hold their spot.

Colonel i think you either love Brian or are his spokesman- Jake is 100% right- mate i do not know what it would take C Armitt playing origin next year -for you to see Brian is our faulty wire at this circuit box!

He is so scientific its destroys all players natural talents and they become robots!
They then leave and become free again and express their talent on the field-he is now so desperate to win a premiership he lets go some of our best juniors- other clubs have snapped up- and yet you sit here being polite and as if everything will be alright from here on- Colonel Brian is destoying the club and more players like Lyon and Armit will leave if he does not get an early release- i have written emails to Brian and the footy club a few times now with more knowledge and Brian never returns my emails because they are too honest for the little man!

I am upfront and what you see is what you get - BRIAN is not what our club needs to win anything as we are not a happy unit- simple as that for 3 years with Brian in full charge - how much longer is there?

You need to have a read mate. A fan of Smith - once not now. Balanced in my view of things - I try to be.

Game First- I agree with in regards to the Robots suggestion. Our coach has confused the f**k out of our players with his scientific bullshit, I have been saying this all along. And on top of that he knows how to make a player not enjoy playing football anymore.

Our club is in a Crisis because of our dumb coach!!!! And our fearless CEO is following the coach of the cliff.

Trouble is Colonel, I think we are all balanced in our opinion. It's just that the Pro Smith line of thought offers no weight anymore - and hence the scales fall on the negative! That's why scales have that pivotal thing in the middle. Don't try and be balanced, so much as accurate.

I suppose its not so much balanced but trying to see if there is a second side to the story. I'm over Smith and find it hard to ascertain why kids leave. Take for instance Chris Armit - I find him leaving difficult to understand as he hasn't had much of a chance when talent is evident while IMO Nathan is another story given some of the youngsters a year or two older ahead of him.

Colonel -you are very balanced and polite-thank god as some of the emotion can get out of control- i hope everyone doesnt personally persecute Brian as i think he is a passionate and good man- but his coaching style and the fact he doesnt see it as a game of footy and takes it to the extreme seriousness-and gets the players to think too much scienific instead of going out there and letting it happen naturally and fluently not thinking too much about it- a game of footy is won on expression of a players talent- not surpressing it and over controlling it!
Again, i do not want to sound as a know it all but my contacts have been developed over 15 years at the club and i get spot on the truth- players will not speak out when they are being paid that much or it threatens their position- like you would not speak out v your boss if you are well paid- but in footy all the players not only have to respect the coach but fell free and natural at the same time to play excellent footy on the park- your teamates must be really happy and HAPPINESS IS THE KEY!

The way the players have performed over 3 years now tells us that they try but are never quite good enough to get over adversity because i think they are deep down not happy enough! i may be wrong but its not a family club!

Fact is 90% of the negative shit stirers on here have No idea of what goes on at the club- how Brain coaches or treats the players- all you go off is results and then form your own opinion.

I'm of the opinion that Brian is a good coach who is stale at Parra. He took us from the bottom to near top adn now we're back in decline. Winning breeds happiness and a happy culture- when things aren't going right the coaching suddenly becomes too scientific, people with agendas have a field day as they've been waiting years to stick a knife in your back and twist it- and suddenly it snow balls to the point where fans become disillusioned and people such as GameFirst pretend they know what's going on when really they have no clue. Suddenly everything about the club is negative and its a hard cycle to break free from.

I seriously don't understand the logic of 'supporters' claiming inside info and posting crap. Unless you're privy to the inside running of the club and have seen the building blocks that are being put in place to regain our premiership credibility than shut up.

I agree management and the coaching staff f'd things up hardcore between 2001 and now...and people should have been made more accountable for how things went. However, these same people realise their mistakes and are doing what they can do get us rolling forward again. Negative people spreading crap don't help this process.

The moral of the story- GameFirst you're a dueschbag!!!

That's great.

So we go and sign ANOTHER back that is not a halfback or 5/8, the area in which we DESPERATELY need quality players.

So much for BS being a smart coach...

We arent that bad in that department
we have:
Marsh (maybe)
Witt
Morris
Blake
Smith
Mateo
We need seasoned halves which i believe we will sign one soon.

Yeah, that's fair enough mate, and I see the point.

But in the centres we have:

Burt
Smith
O'Dwyer
Widders
Tahu
Graham
Langi (?)

I would like to see the Witt/Morris combination get a fair go - I think that they can gel and form a solid combination, as both are skilled players and important to our team.

But it would be nice to have someone who can come off the bench to relieve the stress if things don't work out; for instance, if Witt struggles take him off and put on Marsh.

Next year is especially important, if the newspaper articles about Hindy are to be believed. Basically next year's team performance will determine whether or not Hindy is an Eel for life.

No screw ups in 2005, Brian. I mean it.

I think it all comes down to the Witt/Morris. Them to were outstanding last year. We won 11/13 games. If Witt gels he will be able to lead and organise. But with seasoned forwards like Vella and Pearson, Witt probably feels a little inexperienced in telling senior players what to do. Its rumoured if we get Marsh he wont be able to playh till 2006. So Witt/Morris for my two cents.
