McGrath fails fitness test

McGrath failed a fitness test this afternoon and will now miss the NSW Second XI match that he had previously planned on launching his comeback from.

Seemingly any chance he had of being a bolter for the Sri Lankan tour is now gone - he will probably have to hope the selectors will pick him on minimal match practice, for the return tour of Sri Lanka to Australia in the winter - two Tests in Darwin and Cairns.

Tough comeback for McGrath - especially given few fast bowlers over 30 manage to maintain their careers once major injury halts it. It isn't like he can drop back a few notches to concentrate on accuracy now is it? Without being a Mark Waugh nuddie bowler. ;-)

No surprises but Australia could do with one comeback at different times.

If he comes back too early, he may end up in retirement.

Better to wait until he is right, he wants to play for another 2 or 3 years.

Good chance to send a young bowler to SL.

Not an oldie like Casper.
